Pride month is a particularly special time in Dance Music considering the music’s roots in Queer Black clubs in the US. Icons like Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles not only paved the way for Dance Music as we know it today, but they also held space early on for all the LGBTQ artists who would follow in their footsteps. Here enter GRiZ and Wreckno, some of today’s generation of LGBTQ icons with 2020’s Pride anthem “Medusa”, just in time to bring some positivity to such an incredibly difficult time.

GRiZ premiered the track back in April during his set on the Room Service Livestream Festival hosted by Trap Nation and I’ve been living for it since. “Medusa” is equal parts groove, bass, and attitude, much like GRiZ and Wreckno’s typical sounds. The tune also features the booming up and comer vivacious swagger and ingenious lyrics, providing a script to the 2020 Pride anthem. Considering we’ve all been waiting for this one since we first heard it in April, if we could all get our asses on a dancefloor right now we would be shaking them.

A quarantine dance party will have to suffice for the time being. Get ready to throw it back to GRiZ and Wreckno’s “Medusa” below.
