High-energy bass producers, Opiuo and Ashez, just released a four-track EP that effortlessly blends their production styles together titled Underground. Underground is an EP that dives deep into both Opiuo and Ashez’s distinctive soundscapes to bring fans a refreshing project that is unlike any other. Underground is ominous and mysterious, and at the same time, it’s bright, refreshing, and fun. The two previously teamed up in 2023 for their mystical and wonky track titled “Bash Plate.“
Opiuo is an iconic bass producer whose creations merge soul, psychedelia, bass, and funk into a sonic experience that takes listeners on an immersive journey. Opiuo’s extremely successful sold-out Red Rocks show in 2023 affirms his spot as a highly respected and sought-after producer who constantly pushes boundaries. Ashez, a bass music producer from Auckland, New Zealand, has made a name for himself as an exciting and unique artist who creates upbeat and multi-dimensional soundscapes, providing official remixes for the likes of CloZee, TRUTH, and Maddy O’Neal. Together, the two NZ producers are giving fans a taste of the absolute heat they can cook up when they put their minds together, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this dynamic duo!
“Underground” is the first track on the EP and features a synth-heavy build-up that drops into a grimy and nasty bassline. It’s futuristic, pulsating, and an absolute banger that sets the tone for the rest of the EP to follow.
“Bobby Dazzler” proves to be a hot dance hit right from the jump. Diving right in with rhythmic bass hits and reverberating synths, it’s hard to resist getting groovy to this funky beat.
“Ricochet” captivates listeners immediately with a darker ambiance that slowly builds before the bass comes in and shakes things up. Richochet has a slower tempo with cryptic undertones, making for a moody but intriguing dubstep tune.
Closing the EP out is “My Love,” a synth-focused melodic creation that feels light and airy, showcasing emotional undertones. This final track shoots right to your heart for a blissfully sweet experience and ends the EP out on a high note.

“Me and Ashez have been very close for years now. We met via our good friend Clozee (I heard his music while staying at her house one time) and I was instantly like “who is THIS?!”. I played a couple of his songs in my set (I rarely play anyone but my own) and instantly wanted to connect and collaborate. After some internet sessions we met in real life and the creativity just flowed seamlessly. I’m so proud of this music. It’s more moody, and a little darker, but that’s what a good collaboration should be, a bit of both of you mashed into something fresh and new. I’m so happy to finally share this music with everyone!
