Mary Droppinz and Neumonic have been on a nonstop roll this year, and the two visionary artists joined together for their new collab, “What?” that you absolutely need to check out! Released on Zeds Dead‘s label, Deadbeats, this high-energy track serves as the lead single on Neumonic’s forthcoming EP. The new heater, “What? ” brings dance-heavy energy with playful vocals from both artists. With dubstep elements and a breakbeat groove, Neumonic and Mary Droppinz have proven themselves a creatively aligned duo. Both of their individual sounds create a dynamic flow that balances rhythm and bass.

Alissa Johnson, widely known as Mary Droppinz, has risen to become a standout artist since launching her project in 2021. The California producer’s genre-blending style integrates deep dubstep with rhythm-focused grooves. If you’ve had the chance to catch Droppinz perform live, then you know that her sets are innovative, fun, and the lively energy she brings on stage is contagious! She’s taken over stages at massive festivals like EDC Vegas, Seven Stars, Lightning In A Bottle, and more. Mary Droppinz is currently on her 2026 Multidimensional Tour, her biggest headline tour to date.  

Nick Neumann, better known as Neumonic, has established himself as a respected UK garage and bass artist, and we’re stoked to see him in the limelight. Hailing from Santa Cruz, CA, Neumonic’s project has captured the attention of bass & garage fans worldwide. Neumonic has shared his talent on stage at insane festivals like Elements, Texas Eclipse, Infrasound, and more! He has even created his own collective in California, “Garage Access,” bringing the underground, UK-inspired garage sound to the area.

These two exhilerating acts went back to back together to perform at The Untz Festival last year. You can peep their set below.

 “‘What?’ is a long overdue collaboration with Mary Droppinz that we’ve had so much fun playing out live. We started this on our last Colorado shows together and has slowly evolved over the months after, and slowly added more ridiculous lyrics. It was also the opening track of our first official B2B at Untz Festival 2025.” -Neumonic

The Neumonic and Mary Droppinz collab, “What?” is one that will ignite ecstatic energy on the dance floor. The track opens up with a vocal sample telling listeners that “this should be played at high volume,” and we completely agree! Dynamic drums ease us into the experimental bass lines and breakbeat rhythms. The percussive elements in this tune are tight and kinetic, giving the track a driving momentum. The vocals are playful, inviting, and utterly cheeky. Mary Droppinz’ voice is seamlessly echoed throughout “What?,” bringing forth “It goes off when we drop it” energy. Neumonic also has a vocal sample intertwined, and this is the first time he’s used his own voice in a track! 

If you’re a fan of UK-influenced bass & breakbeat genres, then you absolutely need to add “What?” to your playlist. Neumonic and Mary Droppinz have shown us they’re a synergetic pair, and we hope to see them collaborate on more heaters going forward.
