Where the riddim rats at? The masked duo PROXXXY has just released a VIP to their certified banger “FUN IN THE CLUB,” alongside eight new remixes from other heavy-hitting artists. Released on Dubstep FBI’s Beat Intelligence Network (BIN), the tracks are dubstep delights imbued with galvanizing energy. PROXXXY and BIN recruited some killer DJs to put their spin on the viral hit, including SANZU, NRVE, Vicious, TORMENT, DMZ NEWS OFFICIAL and INAKTIV.
There are two additional “FUN IN THE CLUB” remixes from contest winners – LAZYFLEX and 1H5U – that stood out amongst two hundred participants. The masked duo even threw a remix contest launch pop up event featuring a new set from PROXXY, exclusive PROXXXY merch, and a special PROXXXY pin to generate some hype for the coming release. Let’s dive into our favorite new takes on the PROXXY banger.
PROXXXY, the anonymous masked riddim producers, burst onto the scene a couple of years ago. The DJs are known for their pristine sound design in the riddim genre. Having pop ups in multiple cities, no one knows where PROXXXY is based so be sure to keep up to date with their live schedule. Their new VIP of “FUN IN THE CLUB” puts a fresh and filthy spin on the already neck breaking track. The devious duo gets right into it, building up the tension quickly until it is unleashed with sonic fury. From the get go, this track is a stomper, commanding ecstatic movement from listeners. If you want to get a better idea of who PROXXXY is, be sure to listen to “AMPED” and “SILLY SOUNDS.”
Sanzu is another unidentified riddim aficionado. The artist has collaborated with PROXXXY in the past on their landmark track “HACKBLADE,” a vicious barrage of bass. With that shared history and chemistry, Sanzu and PROXXXY agreed to create this new flip together. Their take on “FUN IN THE CLUB” is slightly deeper, but still nonstop action. When asked about the collab, PROXXXY had this to say:
“We asked our long-time brother Sanzu to hop on a collab remix with us. We thought it would be cool if all three of us really flipped the song to be something entirely different than the original. We’re stoked on how this turned out and how you hear our and Sanzu’s sounds work in tandem with each other.”
These artists are truly having fun with it, throwing in unique sounds to tickle the brain and seamlessly infuse feral vibes into the tune. This remix shatters expectations and gets listeners ravenous for more collabs in the future from these two acts.
PROXXXY and BIN also wanted to widen the horizons and decided to throw a contest for one talented producer to get their “FUN IN THE CLUB” remix featured on the official release. While the original rules stated that there would only be one artist to win, two tracks emerged that won the favor of the hosts. Both LAZYFLEX and 1H5U put forward some unmistakably nefarious flips. LAZYFLEX puts a wobbly spin on the track, shooting the soundscape into outer space. The California based DJ and producer is certainly one to keep on your radar. On the flip side, 1H5U decided to take a more devious approach. Blending robotic noises with a slower deeper build up, the producer transformed “FUN IN THE CLUB” into a darker bass face inducing track. When asked about why those two tracks stood out from the rest, PROXXXY shared:
“LAZYFLEX brings a super fun flowy wet synth alternative from the original’s sharp metallic and bouncy bass’.1H5U brought a really modern sound and put together an insane intro that leads into a heavy super clean drop,”
Both rising star artists put their unique sound out there and got rewarded. This contest is a testament to the inclusivity of the bass music scene in general, a space where artists continuously lift each other up.
“FUN IN THE CLUB VIP” and all of its remixes show just how expansive the riddim scene can be. With nine different takes on the track, listeners are able to find their own avenue within the energy packed sub-genre. PROXXXY, alongside all the producers on this tape, are evolving the genre in real time, and we can’t wait to see what they all do next.
