Tape B finally dropped his debut album “Ghosts In The Static”, bringing nine fresh tunes to intertwine with his three recent fan-favorite singles. The album as a whole mixes Tape B’s signature deep, heavy sounds with melodic, euphoric frequencies, making the experience one that feels slow, and seductive, yet extremely stimulating.
Before revealing the album in full, Tape B had been giving a taste of his new vibrations to fans at Same Same But Different Festival in Perris, California as well as his soul-stirring show in Salt Lake City, Utah just last weekend.
Now that the album is finally here, it’s jam packed with dubstep tracks that give you that signature Tape B “Old School” meets “New School” feel. It also includes collaborations with Effin, Dani King, and esteemed hip-hop producer Zaytoven.
Three tracks off “Ghost In The Static” that really stuck out to me were “Keep Em In Check,” “Outta Luck,” and “Breathe”. Each song takes the listener on a unique journey through dark and emotional waves, sinking deeper into the essence of Tape B.
“Keep Em in Check” starts off like a hypnotic spaceship ride until Tape B blasts us off into a profoundly haunting part of space. Although hefty, the piece is very grounding and brings a sense of weighted groove while keeping light, transcendent vocals in the mix.
The emotional depth of the album continues with “Outta Luck” pulling listeners into a seductive channel and boosting confidence. I really enjoy the mind-dominating lyrics that come with this piece, as they make me feel as if Tape B is helping listeners build up their internal armor.
Tape B’s “Breathe” switches up the vibe, bringing in more heavenly and electrifying sounds. This piece does a great job of combining flow-state energy with Tape B’s classic wonky basslines.
As a whole, ‘Ghosts In The Static‘ brought together many intoxicating sounds to blend with Tape B’s signature old-school bass, continuing to impress us time and time again.
