In an emotional video promotion online, Elohim announced her new project’s release and mentioned her struggles with panic, anxiety, and depression, which she has been extremely candid with her fans about in the past. She highlighted her excitement for the project and her hopes that this EP can “be a safe place for [listeners] to go when [they] need to cry or smile“. May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Elohim’s EP release was timed in acknowledgment of that. 100% of EP’s proceeds in May will benefit a “selection of charities focusing on providing outreach and support for those suffering from mental health issues“.

The seven-track EP BRAINDEAD unveils the many layers of Elohim and the various emotions of her struggles. From “running” which speaks of taking command of anxiety to “pills“, “medication medication” and “braindead” which cover the peace, pain, and numbness of emotion & medicating respectively, we feel many different moods. My personal favorite is “metamorphine” and I love this EP’s overall message and openness about struggle. To close off the EP, she delivers a stunning cover of Harvey Danger’s classic track, “Flagpole Sitta“.

Catch her on blackbear’s Dead 2 The World Tour, which begins next week, and stream her full EP below!
