In an ode to self-love, William Black and ILLENIUM present their heartfelt collaboration, “My Own Advice”, with vocals supplied by rising country music star, Alana Springsteen. As the final single from William Black’s forthcoming third studio album, “My Own Advice” wields an emotive yet danceable future bass shockwave that pulls nostalgic inflections from his 2019 collaboration alongside ILLENIUM, “Superhero”.

Preceding this star-studded joint effort, William Black has been gearing fans up for the release of his album with a barrage of vocally-driven melodic bass masterpieces; “Last Forever” with Jordan Shaw, “Beautiful Nothing” with Fairlane and gavn!, and his most recent solo effort, “Lie”. Weaving in elements of angsty rock through rugged vocals, high-flying guitar riffs, and dominant drum kicks, Black has already curated a cohesive compilation of tracks that give a brief glimpse into his album’s storyline while staying true to his future bass roots.

“My Own Advice” stands as one of ILLENIUM’s first official collaborations since the release of his acclaimed self-titled fifth studio album that he released back in April. His long-time trusted colleague, William Black, is the ideal artist to bring ILLENIUM back into the studio after Black supported the future bass prodigy on his record-setting ILLENIUM LIVE world tour this summer. To add that extra flair of superstar verve into the equation, 22-year-old singer-songwriter, Alana Springsteen, carries the track with her emotive harmonies and impeccable lyrical delivery.

The first verse of “My Own Advice” opens with a stripped-down version of the chorus, with Springsteen’s vocals and an acoustic guitar laying the foundation for the main melody of the track. At the first crescendo, William Black and ILLENIUM don’t hesitate to bring a wave of heartrending signature synth work that has become a staple in both of their discographies. Alana promises that “it’s okay to be not okay sometimes” atop tempo-setting kicks and snares, beautifully showcasing the many layers of instrumentation that went into the production of “My Own Advice”.

In an ingeniously intentional fusion of vocalist fervor and melodic bass sound design, this power trio spawns a hard-hitting tearjerker of a tune that will undoubtedly become a consecrated collaboration for each artists’ respective fanbases. “My Own Advice” closes with an ensemble of soaring synths and celestial chimes detailed over the chorus, giving this masterpiece a true cinematic finale.
