nok nok is an up-and-coming producer and DJ from California you need to keep your eye on. Drawing upon diverse influences such as surf rock, house, and classical flute, nok nok presents beautiful audio imagery in the minds of listeners with each release. Inspired by artists like CloZee and Lane 8, nok nok has certainly carved a unique path for himself in the West Coast electronic music scene that is catching the attention of fans nationwide.

Last year, nok nok released his hit single “Cold In California” featuring the soothing vocals of Clara Jo. This track hit the lottery and made it big throughout European radio stations, having now accumulated over 600,000 plays on Spotify. Here’s what nok nok had to say about the inspiration for the track when it came out:

“Clara Jo was going through a breakup, and that song lyric had been bouncing around in her head for a while. She asked if she could take a quick demo recording of it while we were sitting in her apartment recording a different song. Two quick takes later, and we had the vocal line for “Cold In California” as is! Sometimes it just happens easy like that haha.” – nok nok

This month, nok nok returned with a remix compilation for the hit single via our good friends over at The Gradient Perspective. The remix pack, featuring five up-and-coming artists that deserve your attention, spans different genres, tempos, and vibes. Each artist–NOZU, Secret Recipe, BEACHDRUNK, TheBusiness., and ZAHN–provide their own flavor and reimagine the possibilities for an already-incredible tune. Everything from house, to freeform bass, to two step, to future bass, you name it!

Out of all of these incredible remixes, my favorite has to be the one from TheBusiness. If you are unfamiliar with this artist, please do yourself a favor and dive deep into his arsenal of audio excellence. He is one of the most dynamic and diverse rising stars who always knows how to lay down a proper vibe. And this remix for nok nok’s “Cold In California” is no different. There are some hints of Pretty Lights in this one and would be perfect for one of those long drives during summer nights.
