ZEKE BEATS Returns To Bassrush Records With Explosive Four-Track EP Futura

After three long-awaited months since the release of the festival anthem single, “BABABASS,” ZEKE BEATS has returned to Bassrush Records to unleash his supercharged four-track EP, FUTURA.

The Australian scratch master has consistently pushed the boundaries of what we thought possible for electronic music. His technical abilities on and off stage are impossible to ignore, as each release and live performance are meticulously orchestrated to create a new unparalleled experience.

ZEKE BEATS’ unique style is a fusion of left-field bass and experimental dubstep, incorporating elements of grime and hip-hop. His out-of-the-box sound design has garnered the attention of some of the industry’s biggest acts; collaborating with many HIHF favorites including Wreckno, Bleep Bloop, Champagne Drip, and most recently Ravenscoon on his Periphery Remix LP, and Jantsen on FUTURA’s single, “BABABASS.

FUTURA wastes no time throwing the listener into the deep end while simultaneously melting your face as it takes off with the accurately named, “EPIC.” The track packs a girthy punch, starting with an expansive melody, giving you a taste of the percussion and bass yet to ensue. As it gradually builds up to its peak, the melody takes a turn, transitioning from the ebb and flow into a glitchy masterpiece that will rattle you to your core. Here’s what ZEKE BEATS had to say about his inspiration behind “EPIC:”

“Crafting ‘EPIC’ was a truly enjoyable and fascinating process for me. I aimed to blend melody, heavy drops, and experimental bass design. Surprisingly, the idea came to me during a flight, where the change in air pressure was messing with my ears, forcing me to concentrate on writing melodies instead of focusing solely on heavy sound design.” – ZEKE BEATS

Next up is the menacing dubstep banger “BABABASS” with Jantsen. Released as FUTURA’s initial single, this piece has seen a lot of attention across the festival circuit. It gives old-school dubstep meets hybrid trap vibes, taking your breath away with its heavy use of synths and low-end bass.

One of my favorite tracks off Futura is “PROGRAM ACTIVATED.” This one threw me for a loop with its influx of breakbeats and deep resonating bass similar to G Jones. You find yourself struggling to catch your breath as ZEKE BEATS transports you into what feels like an intergalactic battle. This one is certain to stomp some feet into the ground at any stage.

ZEKE BEATS closes out Futura with the absolute heater “HARDER.” Featuring the legendary British MCs Virus Syndicate, this piece truly lives up to its name. Breakbeats are soon followed by Virus Syndicate’s raw primal vocals, delivering an exceptional flow of grimey experimental bass. We can only hope they plan to cook up more collabs in the future because this is some pure filth!
