Kenopsia Paints A Sonic Portrait Of Change & Reflection On Error 404

Kenopsia has been dubbed by many as one of the most talented up-and-coming artists in the southeastern bass scene. He is making waves with his new six-track EP Error 404, a harmonic odyssey that is best experienced from start to finish. Each track seamlessly transitions into the next, creating a fluid and cohesive sonic narrative, a journey of longing, love, loss, and change. Layers of synths and melodic melodies add elements of emotional resonance, a nod to the endless void, the track is out now on Hemi.Wav.

Based out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kenopsia has been involved in the music scene for over a half-decade. Kenopsia has played sets at local underground hotspots, like The Dragon Roast. He has also performed at major events like Nashville’s Deep Tropics Festival, playing alongside huge names like RL Grime, Tape B, and Zingara. His music evokes emotion, with touches of dynamic basslines, chopped-up vocals, and synths and textures. Kenopsia’s music shows both UKG influence, as well as a downtempo vibe, on his new EP Error 404. His experimental style shines through in Dial Love,” a drum and bass/garage fusion, while File Not Found leans into ambient downtempo introspection.

Opening with rainstorm static and soft piano chords, track three, “Only One sets a nostalgic tone. One can imagine a room bathed in the warm flicker of ambient light. Faint vocal loops create an emotional undercurrent. It closes with a hypnotic repetition of “Only One,”  flowing seamlessly into “Prism Shift.”

Rainy ambiance, glitchy hi-hats, and flowing melodies blend with fluid textures in “Prism Shift.” The second drop delivers an innovative distorted bass. It ends on droplets, continuing the album’s recurring theme, nostalgia, traversing through memories old and new. The prism of life is transforming and one’s world is shifting.

Kenopsia’s Seattle roots shine through the album, with the soft hush of rain seamlessly weaving each track together. Listeners can imagine themselves in his world—sitting on the porch on a cold, dreary November evening as the days grow shorter and the seasons shift; a transition of seasons some might even call a “Prism Shift.”

Goodbye, track five, begins with rhythmic synths, leading into a melodic UKG bassline. The second bassquake shifts to a grimy distorted bass with sharp snares and ambient textures. The track wraps up with haunting, dripping sounds, maintaining the album’s contemplative, melancholic tone.

Here is what Kenopsia had to say about his newest EP, out now through Hemi.Wav, Error 404:

“Error 404 is a hauntingly beautiful exploration of love, loss, and the quiet spaces left behind. Each track pulses with future garage beats and lush, melodic soundscapes, drawing inspiration from moments long past. The title Error 404—a nod to the infamous “file not found” message—captures the heart of the project: the feeling of searching for something, or someone, that’s gone forever. Layered with crackling vinyl textures and the soft patter of rain, the EP evokes a sense of nostalgia, like sifting through faded memories in a dimly lit room. From the bittersweet lament of a love song to the ache of saying goodbye without closure, each song speaks to the universal experience of being lost in a world that’s moved on. It’s not just an EP—it’s an emotional echo, calling out from the void.” – Kenopsia
