Maddy O’Neal is someone we love covering here at HIHF. Not just for her incredibly produced music and DJ sets, but also for the contagious energy she brings to everything she does! The Denver favorite is always blowing minds and speakers, whether it is at a pop-up event or touring with some of the biggest names in bass music, like LSDream, CloZee, Of The Trees, Daily Bread, and more. She also excels in other genres outside dubstep and bass, with fans absolutely clamoring for whatever chance they have to be graced by one of her rare “Mad-Haus” house sets.
On remix duties for her newest album ‘Vital Signs’, which featured Cherub, ProbCause, Jason Leech, Xenotype, and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia, O’Neal has recruited an all-star cast of electronic music’s finest rising star talents. Taking on ‘Vital Signs’ are Tripp St, Steller, LUZCID, Motifv, Black Carl!, Skysia, Mary Droppinz, Lizzy Jane, Eyezic, Mux Mool, Underlux, Able Grey, Extrakt, and The Geek x VRV.
This remix LP is jam-packed to the brim with impressive reworks. Both LUZCID and Black Carl! provide stellar reinterpretations of the Cherub collab, “Lost”, with Black Carl! taking the groovy, house route and LUZCID crafting a more euphoric, bass-fueled soundscape.
Motifv’s take on the huge collaboration with Maddy O’Neal, Jason Leech, and DJ Paul was another standout. Motifv turned a trapped-out hip-hop and bass tune into a low-end, sound-system tickler, sure to have the wooks getting down and dirty.
Other standouts from the album were Skysia‘s “I Wanna Know” remix, eyezic‘s “Wicked Game” remix, and Lizzy Jane‘s “Fresh Air” remix. Here is what Maddy had to say about the new remix LP:
“Remix albums are so fun for so many different reasons and why I continue to do them. It’s an opportunity to tap some of my favorite producers in the game and collaborate in a way where they get to interpret my ideas in a brand new way. This round specifically is probably my favorite to date. Be on the lookout for these trickled into my live sets from here on out. Every one of these tracks came out bangin!!” – Maddy O’Neal
