Prepare yourselves for the groovy and heavy new EP from Rusko and Monstercat titled “1 Man Army.” This EP is a testament to Rusko’s versatility in crafting top-tier, energetic electronic music. His first solo project in two years demonstrates a heavy drum and bass presence, resulting from his interest in the genre stemming from the early days of his career.
The UK dubstep legend has an endless list of career achievements, with dozens of iconic tunes like “Woo Boost,” “Jehovah,” and “Cockney Thug” under his belt. He has also played at the most major festivals worldwide, such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival, and Lollapalooza. Recently, Rusko has been doing several b2b sets with fellow dubstep don Caspa, most notably their recent sold-out show at Mission Ballroom in January 2025.
The EP’s title track, “1 Man Army,” is a heater that chops and stutters the lead vocal on top of a wobbly bassline. The next two tunes on the EP, “Wassup” and “Rubix Cube,” were released as singles before the EP’s release; both bangers have already been making waves in the scene. “Bout Your Love” makes you feel the intricacies of love by combining a high-pitched vocal and a rolling bassline.
“GANJAMAN” closes out the EP with a true party-starter that will destroy dance floors for many years to come and was our personal favorite off of the release. This new EP from the legendary artist takes you on a unique, uptempo journey through rhythm and bass. This huge release opens up a new chapter for Rusko, and will only add to the massive arsenal of tunes he has at his disposal in his mind-blowing live performances.
Here’s what Rusko had to say about his new EP:
“Creating this ep was a mission that began with a simple desire to explore more areas of my love for drum and bass. Over the past 19 years, I’ve been experimenting with new sounds, genres, and emotions — and this collection is a reflection of the vibes and feelings of this past year as Rusko.
From the groovy basslines of ‘Rubix Cube’ and ‘1 Man Army’ to the wonky melodies of ‘Bout Your Love’, I tried to keep the element of fun and hype at the forefront, as it has been throughout my musical projects; a colorful burst of hyperactive energy and melody that is the truest representation of my feelings through the last 12 months.” – Rusko
