South African bass sensation Jon Casey just dropped a new trap banger, “RED DOT,” and it’s already hitting the mark. Known for pushing musical boundaries, Casey blends gritty basslines with addictive rhythms in this compelling track. From start to finish, “RED DOT” showcases why Jon Casey is rapidly emerging as an unstoppable force in electronic music.

Jon Casey’s musical history goes back a long way, from hearing his mom and dad play guitar and sing in the church to experimenting with bass music back in grade school with CHEE. The two South African powerhouse artists even were in a dance group together in 8th grade, when they discovered dubstep acts like Rusko and Caspa. His music dreams finally came to fruition when Slow Roast Records, a label run by DJ Craze, reached out to him. Later in 2017, Slow Roast Records debuted Jon’s first solo EP, “Rockefeller.”

His latest track, “RED DOT,” was released with Gud Vibrations, a record label run by Slander and NGHTMRE. Jon has already made his imprint on the label, starting with his single, “French Love Poem,” and also collaborating with NGHTMRE and Pauline Herr on “In Your Eyes.” Jon Casey is gearing up for yet another remarkable year, with performances locked in for North Coast Festival, PHXLights Festival, and playing Shaq’s Bass Allstars last week at Miami Music Week.

Casey’s sound is often described as swingy and bouncy. He is deemed a ‘trap’ guy, but he has made it clear in past interviews that his music is too vast to get stuck into a single style or BPM. This I can attest to firsthand, after seeing his set at The RITZ Ybor in Tampa in 2024 with Apashe. He absolutely crushed it!

“RED DOT” is built around tight 808 drums and warped vocal samples. This tune starts softly with melodic chimes before transitioning into heavier, distorted synths. This work effectively balances tension and atmospheric panning, drawing listeners in with its subtle rhythms before firing into a solid, bass-driven groove. “RED DOT”  blends restraint with powerful energy, hitting the bullseye with a commanding trap tour de force.
