New England’s hottest winter music festival, Winter Wake Up, is back with a new location and another jam-packed lineup. It is moving from last year’s location in Springfield, MA, to one of the most prominent vacation destinations in the Northeast, the Poconos, at the Kalahari Resorts and Conventions center. Not only does this year’s Winter Wake Up boast an impressive lineup with headlining performances from HIHF favorites Daily Bread and Dirtwire, but there are also workshops, magicians, aerial performers, stunt bikes, spas, and the second-largest indoor waterpark in the country!
This year’s lineup will have returning performances by some of my most memorable acts from last year, including the likes of Homemade Spaceship, Raechma, Blk Widow, Symbiosa, and Glass Arrowhead. On top of those five, we’ve also compiled a list of some other acts you won’t want to miss at Winter Wake Up 2024!
Dirtwire
One of my favorite jamtronica acts dominating both the EDM and jam industry is the aberrant trio Dirtwire. This unconventional act has a tantalizing style that bridges the sounds of varying cultures with a bluegrassy electric twang. Each performance is unlike anything you’ve ever seen, as they incorporate instruments most people have never seen before, and play jammed-out covers of some of the biggest EDM acts like LSDREAM, Shlump, Smoakland, and Of The Trees. If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our exclusive HIHF interview with the trio from Cascade Equinox festival here!
Lumasi
This Colorado native has rapidly been rising the ranks as a force to be reckoned with in the dubstep world. Many fans fell in love with his eccentric style and in-your-face bass music after his performance at Sound Haven last year. Not only that, he’s also caught the attention of Wakaan, with his remix of “FOLLOW THE VIBE” on LSDREAM’s remix series. He’s also featured on Driptapes Vol: 5 with his Tape B collaboration, their remix of Schoolboy Q’s “Man Of THe Year”
Khiva
Khiva has been at the forefront of the 140 / deep dub scene for quite some time now. She is the full embodiment of a master of her craft. Not only does she fabricate some of the grungiest dubplates you’ve ever heard, but she is also an esteemed vocalist. Her superior sound design and top-tier lyrical flow have made Khiva a top favorite in the EDM community. HIHF also had the pleasure of an interview ahead of her 2023 Hulaween performance. Be sure to check out her Road To Hulaween HIHF guest mix below!
Artifakts
Wisconsin-born producer Artifakts’ music truly knows no bounds. His discography takes on many forms, often pushing the norms of electronic music with genre-bending tracks and performances that range anywhere between deep dub, DnB, experimental bass music, and a disco funk fusion. He’s also caught the attention of some of HIHF’s favorites with collabs with some heavy-hitters like Daily Bread and Manic Focus.
finneh
If you’re a fan of all things trap and experimental bass, look no further. finneh has a stellar talent to deliver his own bass-heavy take on iconic songs as well as drop some serious fire whether it’s self-released or through renowned labels like Headbang Society. He recently unleashed a collaborative EP with his cousin G-Space on Subtronics’ Cyclops Records. Much of his inspiration is drawn from iconic dance music acts like RL Grime and G Jones. This is one set you won’t want to miss if you want some of the heaviest bass in the Poconos!
