Six Star Records’ “Push & Pull” Compilation Highlights The Ever-Evolving Range Of Underground Sounds

Six Star Records is an up-and-coming record label and artist management company based out of Vermont. It features an impressive roster of underground talent, including charles nimbus, Milano, 3420, PATH, headnod, ikuma, and Hydroglyph. Driven by a passion for bold sounds and experimental rhythms, Six Star strives to push new music into new spaces in order to reveal future sonic trends and ultimately elevate the underground. Six Star Records has done just that with the release of its 12-track compilation, Push & Pull.

Push & Pull is Six Star’s second compilation. The first compilation, Heat & Pressurewas released in early 2023 and included seven mesmerizing tracks. Just over a year later and nearly double the amount of tunes, Push & Pull showcases 12 tracks that cover the underground sonic spectrum, including UKG, Half Time, Neuro, Glitch Hop, Dubstep, Experimental Bass and more.

The Push & Pull compilation begins with “Drift”, an inviting collaboration from 3420 and Hydroglyph. Born from a flow state session during a writing retreat in 2023, this track seamlessly transitions from a tranquil lo-fi beat into a pleasant drum and bass stepper. It’s the perfect way to set the tone for the sonic exploration to come.

This leads us into “Infiltrate” from charles nimbus, an immersive UKG track with dark rhythms that is sure to shake up the dance floor. His style and flow have captivated crowds at Tipper n Friends, Submersion Festival and other unique settings. Fellow label mate headnod is next with “Zeolite”, featuring a dazzling display of low-end precision and hypnotic reverberation. The Florida-based artist produced a hit on last year’s compilation in “Refraction”.

Up next on Push & Pull is crawdad sniper, a name that has consistently been garnering more and more attention from the underground bass music community over the last year and a half. His song “Turbulence” takes listeners on an epic journey, supported by panning synths, fun bass lines and crisp drums. He is currently touring with charles nimbus and fellow hit-maker Chez on the “3 of a Kind Tour”, which is hitting several more stops this Spring.

Newcomer B+ makes his splash on the Push & Pull compilation with “Alchemy”, blending elements of nature with enriching bass to create an all-encompassing experience. Closing out the first half of the compilation is Hydroglyph’s second track, “Climax”. Strings, vocal distortion, synths, shakers, and bongos converge to create an irresistible groove that is sure to keep listeners moving.

Milano kicks off the second half of the compilation with a fun trap heater in “Swarm”. This track straight up thumps with powerful kicks and intricate fills. PATH is next on Push & Pull with an insane experimental bass heater in “Delinked”. The lead bass and heavy distortion are a sure combo to melt your brain. If that wasn’t enough PATH for you, he comes right back with a hefty serving of “Beef Whaleington”, a collab with Hydroglyph. The creative prowesses from both artists are on full display in this track – you will seriously be blown away.

The last quadrant of this sonic journey offers some blissful bops, beginning with “Air Dribble”. This awe-inspiring collab from ikuma and headnod allows us to wind down and reflect on the epic adventure we’ve been on so far. Dismal Harmony, a collab project featuring brothers StrykerSteele & Jagger Cole, raises the energy again with “Ecleptic”. The use of guitar in this creates a massive vibe that is sure to brighten your day.

The Push & Pull compilation closes with “Pelicant”, a psychedelic collaboration between ikuma and 3420. The melty downtempo rhythm is a fitting conclusion to the sonically-fulfilling journey we just embarked on. This compilation is a testament to Six Star’s dedication to nurturing talent and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sound. We’re looking forward to hearing more from the Six Star team!
