The latest edition of this monthly post series took a bit longer to put together than the previous two. April was just that good for drum & bass! There were so many incredible releases that stretched across multiple subgenres and it was a lot to sift through. Check out five of our favorites from April below!
One of the hottest names in drum & bass started teasing his album throughout the month of April and it actually just dropped today. Sub Focus released a highly-anticipated single, “Fine Day”, a guaranteed mood-changer. This one will instantly brighten your day. Check back in with us for our May edition of five drum & bass songs you should be listening to as we are confident there will be another song from his Evolve album that will be included on that list.
One name that has caught our attention recently is multi-genre talent, Charles Nimbus. In April, he released his four-track Breach EP that showcased a more soulful side compared to some of his other more bass-heavy releases. The first track from the EP, “Surge”, is a beautiful start to this soul-cleansing journey. Fresh off of an incredible set at Tipper n Friends in Suwannee, this is a name you’ll be wanting to pay attention to.
One of the most high-energy names in the genre, Mozey, gave us some incredible bangers in the month of April. His two-track EP included “Break It Down VIP” as well as “Hands In The Air VIP” featuring the don himself, Rusko. Both of these tracks will instantly wake you up and light up any dance floor.
April also saw a massive collab from some of the very best, Rudimental and Vibe Chemistry. With soothing lyrics courtesy of vocalist Charlotte Plank, “Dancing is Healing” is a perfect reminder of just how powerful music can be. This is another instant mood-changer.
Rounding out our top five for April is “Story Of Women” from London-based Harriet Jaxxon. This track is a nonstop thrill ride through time and space. Recently named the Best Female DJ at the 2023 Drum & Bass Awards in London, Harriet Jaxxon always brings the energy in both her tracks and live sets. As someone who really enjoys the technicalities of live DJing, Jaxxon is one of the very best when it comes to blends, creating these jaw-dropping experiences for fans.
