We love to see an artist glow up here at HIHF, and the glow-up of international sensation Hamdi in the past two years has been monumental. With his first US tour in 2023 and a headlining tour in 2024 with support from many HIHF favorites, including Chee, Jon Casey, LYNY, Moody Good, Chef Boyarbeatz, and many others, he’s been all gas, no brakes, and it doesn’t look like he’s stopping anytime soon. Today, Hamdi is excited to unveil his official debut on Circus Records with his remix of Doctor P‘s iconic dancehall anthem “Sweet Shop.”
Hamdi hit 2023 hard with a lengthy list of self and label-released bangers on Locus Sound, Duploc, and Deadbeats. 2024 is setting out to be no different, with a new vocal dub version of “Counting” with P Money and a remix of Fred Again.. and Baby Keem’s “leavemealone.”
“Sweet Shop” was one of the first releases on Circus Records, helping build the foundation for the acclaimed label, so of course, Hamdi had to bring it all the way full circle. I absolutely love the way Hamdi stamped his mark on this timeless classic, introducing his unique flair that beefs up the track and hones in on his UKG-inspired sound. Here’s what Hamdi had to say about why this was such a cherished addition to his discography:
“It’s an absolute honour to be able to remix Sweet Shop; it was one of the first Dubstep tracks I ever heard and was a big reason I got into the genre in the first place. I wanted to make a sort of 2024 version of the track but keep the energy and feel of the original. I had a lot of fun making it, and it’s been going off at shows, so glad to have it come out!” – Hamdi
