We’ve been celebrating ever since these two inventive visionaries of sound, Detox Unit and Jade Cicada, announced their two-day takeover at Mission Ballroom this August with a line-up of revolutionary acts including Lone Drum, Mickman, Schmoop, Vinja, and many more. Tickets are already going fast as fans are shocked by this cutting-edge curation of talent and unparalleled musical artistry that will be blessing the Mile High City of Denver this summer.
As an audio engineer, Detox Unit has incorporated captivating sound design and technological fascination into his growing craft. Pioneering a new style with his abstract electronic mastery, this self-taught phenom has been producing since the age of twelve. He takes heavy inspiration from the legend, Tipper, working closely alongside him and opening new doors within our community.
His most recent uptempo EP from 2023, Liminal, is a testament to Detox’s precise technique and face-scrunching glitch-hop that keeps listeners intellectually engaged while getting low on the dancefloor. Having played the state’s beloved festival, Sonic Bloom, and one of the country’s most renowned venues, Red Rocks, Detox Unit is no stranger to Colorado. We’re ecstatic to experience another live set and headline performance from this ground-breaking creator come August.
Jade Cicada is another luminary musical wonder with boundary-pushing design and consciousness-expanding sound. This New York native fuses a wide range of genres into his production including glitch hop, acid house, drum and bass, ambient, and many other experimental approaches. He recently graced Suwanee for the first time since 2017 with an enthralling set at this year’s Rendezvous that left the festival crowd speechless and wanting more from this extraordinary genius, as well as an opening performance for Zeds Dead at their Hampton Coliseum debut in April.
His latest album, Pressure Gamut, redefines electronic soundscapes with otherworldly frequencies and a myriad of proper tracks such as, “Bamboozled,” that showcase his ability to craft festival-favorite hits. If you have been lucky enough to witness a Jade Cicada set in the past, then you know his curated experiences aren’t to miss. He’ll be taking center stage at Mission Ballroom for a wild headline on the second day, alongside many other skilled producers making waves in the scene.
Among this list of talent is audio technician Mickman, an electrifying creator who has us in a gripping chokehold with his rapidly burgeoning sound and handcrafted aesthetic. His refreshing releases and exhilarating performances have garnered a loyal fan base and landed him spots at notable festivals including Infrasound, Secret Dreams, and Submersion. A diverse range of remarkable artists, Schmoop, Lone Drum, Vinja, Aptic, Dendroid, Layer, and Ezra!, will also be playing amongst these pathbreaking headliners this August.
As the godfather and pillar of electronic music, Tipper, wraps up his storied career, getting closer to a bittersweet retirement, these game-changing producers are sure to proudly carry on his legacy of some of the most talented creators in the space. It’s amazing to watch each of these unique individual artists continue to channel the greatness that Tipper has spread throughout the music world over the years, which has inspired so much connection and creativity in our community.
