JLEON’s versatile style and alchemistic frequencies carry listeners through historical, spellbinding sonic voyages on his new sixteen-track album The Awakening Of SIBU.

Released through Truth’s esteemed label, this Costa Rican producer encapsulates what it means to be Deep, Dark, and Dangerous by musically reimagining past events of Spanish colonizers discovering Costa Rica and encountering the indigenous Borucas people.

Creating meaningful messages within his discography, JLEON utilizes the name SIBU, which means God amongst local tribes. The cover art of a giant octopus, also the beloved DDD mascot, symbolizes a force strong enough to fight off Spanish conquistadors and save the Costa Rican people. 

This captivating artist sets himself apart in the 140 dubstep sphere through his ability to express his experiences and emotions within his sub-flexing sound. His authentic artistry has landed him support amongst some of the biggest names in the experimental genre including Youngsta, Pushloop, and Ternion Sound, just to name a few. JLEON is also the founder of WEIRDOS, a global online community and company known for throwing unique events, platforming rising talents, and sound system culture education.

Unsettling beats and ricocheting bass lure us into the action-packed album with the first grimy track, “Sea Tales.” JLEON stretches all senses through gravity-distorting wormholes in, “Dark String Entanglement,”  as the deadly story unfolds.

On “Control Denied,” the Spanish conquistadors are warded off as underwater textures bubble into system-heavy madness that demolishes the invaders. This tune bleeds into the next with tribal percussions and brisk synths signaling SIBU for “The Arrival.” 

Cryptic pulsating rhythms and powerful drums introduce the album’s bulldozing hero, “SIBU.” The dance floor-shattering bass and evil soundscapes not only break the barriers of the colonizer’s attempts but of the boundaries of dubstep as we know it.
