Following the success of their bass-driven single,“What I Can Do,” CØNTRA and Saturna recruited a group of barrier-breaking artists with distinguished styles to put their spin on the sensorial track. The What I Can Do Remix Album features Abstrakt Sonance, ATYYA, Dillard and more impressive reworks.

Known for cultivating music that knows no bounds, CØNTRA has developed a remarkable discography and is constantly sonically evolving. Growing up, he experienced many instruments and has used his skills as a classically trained musician to make his unique mark in the electronic music world. His recent collab with Chef Boyarbeatz “Night Lurker” was named one of our Top 100 tracks of 2024.

As co-founder of collectives and labels like Wildlife Division and Qualia, Saturna has helped platform emerging talents and push the possibilities of genre-defying sound and live curation in the underground community. Originally from British Columbia, the lifelong musician tells stories for wandering minds in his delicate artistry, such as in his latest release with Mfinity, “Rewind,” an introspective, sonorous journey.

Combining their undeniable production prowess with meditative soundscapes, CØNTRA and Saturna created a massive hit with “What I Can Do.” Released with The Gradient Perspective, the track has amassed over 500,000 streams and is currently both the label and artist’s most popular tune.

The full remix album captures the majestic essence of the original track and features an array of sonic exploration seasoned with signature flavor from each producer. The ATYYA remix laid the groundwork for the project with its seamless percussive flow and rich, deep-toned rhythms. As a multi-instrumentalist and professional mixing and mastering engineer, ATYYA has sharpened his leading-edge musical craft for over a decade and brought technical insight and creativity to his version.

Savej (pronounced ‘Savage’) enhances the tribal grooves and fuses world music elements with innovative beat-boxing vocals for his rendition of “What I Can Do.”  The Louisiana-based creator incorporates ancient medicine music in his artistry and works with indigenous tribes, aiming to reconnect and ground fans while bridging the gap between current cultures and past eras.

The Canadian powerhouse bass artist Abstrakt Sonance took a stimulating, futuristic take on the tune. Weaving his pulse-pounding synths with cryptic artificial textures and crisp drums, listeners are cast through cyberspace in this absolutely monstrous flip.

Dillard is best known for his mind-expanding sound that induces blissful flow states and evokes euphoric sensations. This is evident in his “What I Can Do” flip as the Colorado producer tickles brainwaves with his effervescent vibrations and unpredictable glitches, synthesizing an imaginative work of art.

Rapidly making waves in the scene, Mfinity sculpted an entrancing remix layered with celestial bass and his hypnotic, introspective style. This mold-breaking experimental artist continues to level up and his addition was a flawless way to close out the remix album.

The What I Can Do remix album is a multifaceted collection of genre exploration and a testament to the ever-evolving talent from each contender. Here’s what CØNTRA and Saturna had to say about the impressive project:

“I never thought the title track ‘What I Can Do’ was going to pop off the way it did. I knew the tune was good but I never realized how much people would resonate with it. I’ve found it’s so hard to predict the tracks that do well and oftentimes it’s the opposite of what I think lol. It’s been a trip seeing all the people playing and tagging the tune online from DJ’s, to flow artists, dancers, visual artists and even comedians. One of our fans ended up making a beautiful painting named after the track and another person messaged me saying she was going to get the album artwork tattooed on her neck!”

“After ‘What I Can Do’ seemed to be gaining a lot of traction with listeners, the team and I thought it would be a smart move to do a Remix EP for the single. This is actually my first Remix EP ever and I was super hyped to start up the project. Me and Dez (Saturna) brainstormed a list of some of our favorite world bass and deep dubstep artists and luckily pretty much everyone we asked was game. It’s been quite an honor seeing some of my favorite artists getting involved and putting their own spin on the tune. I’ve looked up to all of these guys for years and feel so grateful they wanted to remix the song.” – CØNTRA

“When we were writing “What I Can Do” we really wanted to focus on simplicity and rhythm. If you can turn everything off and just let the bass and drums play, and it makes you move, then you know you’re hitting the primal urge that goes back to the beginning of music. The place where our ancestors banged rocks together around a fire and I think that’s really powerful. “ – Saturna
