Stripping away his layers with soul-soothing basslines, Abstrakt Sonance connects straight from the heart with fans in Wanna Breathe, his raw downtempo EP and first solo release on ENiGMA Dubz’s record label, Morii Records.
Having many hits under esteemed labels such as Deep, Dark, and Dangerous and Deadbeats, this Canadian dub slinger is revolutionizing the 140 dubstep world and breaking barriers with his pulse-pounding, grimy sound. Abstrakt Sonance gets vulnerable in Wanna Breathe with three unique tracks that take a new creative approach to his usual heavy style.
The 15-minute sonic journey fuses blissful elements of vibrant beats and meditative vibrations with a trip-hop influence. Abstrakt Sonance dropped “Wanna Breathe,” the first song of the EP, as a single a week before the full project was released.
Performing major stages and festivals such as Shambhala, Red Rocks, Texas Eclipse and Lost Lands, the producer says that tune has been his most requested ID after sets at this year’s festivals.
Hypnotizing vocals melt over crisp percussions in “Wanna Breathe,” carrying listeners through an introspective, emotional story. The lyrics read, “this world is breaking me, but I just wanna breathe,” as Abstrakt Sonance synthesizes alluring soundscapes and unveils his softer side.
“Feel Myself Again,” feels like a breath of fresh winter air paired with the clarity of rediscovering the self and healing from mental anguish. The song comes in with entrancing beats, enriching textures, and intoxicating snares that put you into angelic flow states. The official music video takes watchers through all of the emotions, featuring the talented dancer Jessie Harbon gracing her majestic elegance along to the tune while deep in the Pacific Regional Park forest in Vancouver.
“First Time,” triggers euphoric sensations and puts the mind at ease with an organic, ambient vibe mixed with slow house elements. The paradisical frequencies and heavenly vocals bring a sweet reminder of the first time you fell in love, wrapping up this game-changing project from Abstrakt Sonance.
The Wanna Breathe EP gives us an intimate peek into the wonderment of Abstrakt’s brain, his transformational past, and his ability to flourish amongst a wide spectrum of genres. Here’s what he had to say about the special release:
“Inspired to rebound from a hard period towards the end of Canada’s lockdown. These three tracks offered the solace to get lost in my creative process and the results are simply me.” – Abstrakt Sonance
Following the EP’s success, official remixes of the album feature genre-bending works from UK stars, Mystic State, Zed Bias, and head of the label, ENiGMA Dubz.
Flipping “Feel Myself Again” into a stimulating liquid drum and bass bombshell, Mystic State fuses halftime and jungle breaks to sprinkle his flavor onto this melodic masterpiece. Zed Bias takes a tribal house approach in his “First Time,” rework while ENiGMA Dubz switches up the BPM in “Wanna Breathe” to construct an emotive future garage banger.
Based out of the UK, Morii Records is elevating artist production and spotlighting unparalleled musical talent across the globe. Here’s what the label boss had to say about the Wanna Breathe EP:
“Morii Records is a label to be the home for artists’ true creativity, and we are honoured that Abstrakt Sonance has trusted us with these tracks.” – ENiGMA Dubz
