VCTRE has just released one of the tastiest experimental albums of 2025. “Reciprocity” features some of the coveted tunes bass music fans have been patiently awaiting since the drop of VCTRE’s “Abyssal Paints” mix on Soundcloud. This seven-track masterclass is an exemplary project, showing why VCTRE should be your next discography deep dive!
VCTRE has taken the bass world by storm, gaining the attention of some esteemed artists such as Tape B, Mersiv, and Daily Bread. Since his first release in 2017, VCTRE has solidified his name as one of the leading producers of left-field, boundary-pushing bass music. With a diverse collection of sound designs and a vision for pioneering the next generation of experimental artists, VCTRE is truly unstoppable.
The first track “Basket Case” marries melodically entrancing concepts with sinister drops. The relatively loose approach to the drum build-up makes the ensuing bass line all the more flavorful. VCTRE shows his finesse in melding two artistically stark sound designs into one seamless song, intertwining acid-drum beats with ethereal melodies.
While each song is a heavyweight in its own way, “Reverse Naes” is the champion of this album. Where the other tracks on this release balance beauty with brood, this tune is pure grit from beginning to end. Massive distortion and a haunting vocal lead the listener into some of the fattest sub-sounds we’ve ever heard. This one pairs nicely with the club and the weight room!
“Sound Eater” showcases VCTRE’s diverse sound profile. Each aspect of this track contributes to this archetypical opus. VCTRE splays ruthless drum patterns underneath a variety of textured drops. The transition from the muffled synth to the invigorating warble in the first drop is why we are deeming this one the “Big Rig Bruiser”–it slaps!
VCTRE can be best described in one word: Visionary. This album is a testament to his ability to create something equally as dark as it is beautiful. We have been effectively captivated by this project, like most of VCTRE’s work, and look forward to seeing all these tracks rinsed out live!
