Bass n Babes is a queer and femme focused collective throwing some of the hottest underground shows in L.A., hosting names like Austeria, Mantra Sounds, Vyhara and many more HIHF favorites.

Today, they enter the next chapter of their journey with the launch of their brand new Bass n Babes Records label… the release of their Bass n Babes Vol. I is finally here! Their new compilation album spans multiple sub-genres and showcases some of the most talented young rising stars in bass music. Supporting the LGBTQ+ community is a foundation of dance music, so on top of being some incredibly promising artists, we are ecstatic to platform this iconic new collective uplifting queer acts.

The compilation album features HerShe, Kurei, NotLö, So Sus, Auracle, Baby Kush, Bunny G, farley., Lex Looper, nomi, Roses Grimoire, Shortcvke, tess iconic, and VIOLET.

The founder of the label, BabyKush, starts things off with a haunting bass anthem. Titled “Medusa” it shares the story from the iconic snake-haired monster’s perspective. But is she really a monster?

shortcvke takes things up a notch with an absolute face-melter, dubbed “Dryad.” This one will be insane played out on a proper sound system. It’s downright filthy.

Another standout track for us was the collaboration between rising stars HerShe and Kurei. HerShe recently opened for Zeds Dead at DeadRocks XI and is a world-class beatboxing champion. Kurei is a West Coast bass and trap baddie who we’ve hosted for a HIHF guest mix in the past! Their new track “icy” brings a feminine hip-hop flair led by hard-hitting beats and HerShe’s imposing vocal performance. Although this is a vocal-driven banger, the bass hits just as hard and is a must-add to your playlist.

VIOLET impressed us with their midtempo banger “Sensation,” creating an otherworldly soundscape. Lex Looper’s “Love Him” will have headbangers going wild. It’s an absolute weapon and we know we’ll be hearing it out this festival season. Bunny G also wowed with their contribution “Menace Beach,” reminiscent of a G Jones track, with its complex sound design, barrage of bass, and glitchy energy.

The impressive album artwork has been created by ArtFaerie, who does much of Bass n Babes graphic work. The art stays true to the soul of Bass n Babes, representing queer, ethereal, feminine energy.
