Fox Stevenson has done it again! The ultra-talented singer/songwriter/producer/DJ has brought fans another full-length masterpiece of an album, titled Sunk Cost Fallacy.
Fox Stevenson has been a staple of vocal-driven dubstep for over a decade. His stylings reach far beyond the influences of dance music, utilizing his pop-punk upbringing. That being said, he is a strong producer of multiple electronic genres aside from dubstep, like uplifting bass-house, filthy drum and bass, and otherworldly progressive-house.
He has collaborated with fellow genre-traversing artists like Barely Alive, Ookay, Curbi, and Mesto, and has also become a staple of the iconic dubstep label Disciple Recordings
Stevenson’s 2019 album Killjoy brought his creative ideas to a full spectrum of electronic sounds mixed with emotional, angsty, pop-punk flair. It’s one of our favorite electronic albums of all time and flexes the many sides of Fox Stevenson‘s production prowess.
Following Killjoy was Enemy Brain Entertainment, which Stevenson considers an EP, and not a full-length album. This nine-track release off of Pilot Recordings, UKF’s sister imprint, was another monstrous addition to the artist’s catalogue of colorful bass music.
Today, Fox Stevenson returns to the masses with Sunk Cost Fallacy. You can even spot him in London’s central Leicester Square on a billboard for the album!
Here’s what Stevenson had to say about seeing his face up there:
Mad to say you can spot me on a billboard in Leicester Square – massive thanks to Youtube Music. Go give the album a spin if you haven’t yet!
Sunk Cost Fallacy is out now through the legendary Pilot Recordings, seeing Fox’s return to the label and, of course, is yet another boundary-pushing, genre-breaking masterclass.
Our personal favorites were “Give Me Some Space” and “What Are You (Wow),” but this album has a little something for everyone. It’s really incredible to see an artist embrace the poppier sounds of electronic music, while still having the music feel organic and not a bit commercialized. Just true to Fox Stevenson’s spirit and musical passion.
We had the chance to speak with him about the new project and what he wants fans to know about its arrival. Check out the Heard It Here First exclusive Q&A below!
HIHF: What do you want your fans to know about your new album, Sunk Cost Fallacy?
Fox Stevenson: It was time, I take making an album very seriously, that’s why I’ve only done one before in all this time! Sunk Cost Fallacy feels to me like the beginning of a new page for my music, and I hope anyone who’s been listening for a while can hear that. It can feel like a strange balancing act sometimes trying to incorporate the elements I like to have in my music, but with this album I think I’m getting closer to getting it right.
HIHF: What is one thing that fans would not know about your life if you didn’t tell them? Maybe like a fun hobby or just something you would just like to share with them.
Fox Stevenson: I used to be a breakdancer from the ages of seven through seventeen, I even competed a little!!
HIHF: What’s next for the Fox Stevenson project?
Fox Stevenson: Making this album has made me realise, I think I’m an album guy, I’m gonna start thinking about album 3 right away and get on that (don’t expect it too soon though!!!)
