The perennial artists FuntCase and Chime have joined forces to release the track “F*ckin Lovely,” an entertaining sonic journey packed to the brim with euphoria and exhilaration. “F*ckin Lovely” melds FuntCase’s diabolical bass barrage with Chime’s upbeat, hypnotic sounds. The new dubstep tune is an intricate and boundary-pushing production that incites feelings of jubilation and bliss, merging Chime’s ‘happy’ energy with Funtcase’s ‘angry’ energy.

FuntCase is a UK-based producer who has been a fundamental part of the evolution of dubstep to its current form. Beginning in 2009, James Hazell donned the iconic mask that makes him FuntCase, a dynamic artist who has been at the forefront of the dubstep community since its nascence. He is an original member of Doctor P and Flux Pavilion’s Label, Circus Records, and his signature ruthless bass style has inspired many artists to follow in his wake. FuntCase is known for his high-energy performances and iconic tracks like “Without,” with Dani Poppitt, “Borg” with Virtual Riot, and “Arcade Fire” with Doctor P. Harvey Goldfinch is a UK-based artist who has been in the electronic scene since 2010 under many aliases, with the Chime project debuting in 2015. Chime is known for pioneering the subgenre ‘colour bass,’ a versatile space that combines the best elements from the ethereal melodic bass and heavy-hitting dubstep genres. If you want to deep dive into Chime’s unique discography, be sure to check out “Sleepless” with Pixel Terror and Teminite, “Coins,” and “Voidwalkers” with Au5. Chime has performed at top-tier festivals in the past, like Electric Zoo in 2022 and Lost Lands in 2023, so be sure to keep an eye out for his name on future lineups.

“F*ckin Lovely” is released on FuntCase’s label, DPMO. The label was started in 2020 and is part of the Circus Family, alongside Circus Records and Circus Electric, with the label name being a nod to FuntCase’s 2013 EP, Don’t Piss Me Off. The label primarily releases heavy dubstep music and has hosted tracks from artists like Doctor P, Cyclops, Jessica Audiffred, Jkyl & Hyde, Versa, and many more.

“F*ckin Lovely” is a great example of two artists fusing their style to create something greater. FuntCase and Chime take us on a voyage through an ever-evolving soundscape that stirs up energetic and joyous emotions. The track moves between chilled-out nature-esque vibes to blaring bass lines that continue to evolve and merge as the sonic journey progresses. Ultimately, “F*ckin Lovely” helps reconnect listeners with their inner child (or angsty teenager) and lose themselves in paradisiacal euphoria. The tune ends in virtually the same way as it started, with a few layers added, which shows the full circle trek that Chime and FuntCase intended when producing “F*ckin Lovely.”
