Player Dave is back, debuting his most emotionally charged, genre-defying project to date – the Heartbeat EP. Our team is absolutely elated about the release, obsessing over the creative brilliance and forward-thinking production that has further solidified Player Dave as a legend in the experimental bass world. Featuring four masterfully crafted tracks, “Heartbeat”, “v@por”, “Microjoy”, and “the way you want me”, the EP fuses electric synths, textured percussion, and raw vulnerability to immerse fans in a world of emotions, perfect for both the festival stage and solo late-night headphone sessions alike.
Emerging in 2018, Los Angeles–based producer Charles Sahm, better known as Player Dave, has carved a sound entirely his own—blending garage, breakbeat, and intricate sound design into an unmistakable fusion of introspection and energy. From his debut album “Where The Wind Blew Me” to boundary-pushing collaborations with Georgie O’Brien, JAWNZA, and Elohim, every release showcases his gift for crafting emotional journeys through sound. A driving creative force behind the iconic “Lab Group”, from Charlesthefirst, Potions, and Supertask, appearing on multiple tracks across the project, Player Dave’s production continues to shape the pulse of experimental bass music. His live sets have become a staple on festival stages like Coachella, Hard Summer, and Shambhala, solidifying his place as a genre-defining presence in the modern electronic landscape. Player Dave has also headlined notable venues all across the United States, such as Elsewhere NYC, The Ground in Miami and Spin inSan Diego.
The new EP kicks off with the title track “Heartbeat”, a collab with Elohim that captures the rush of emotional connection, where glitchy synths and sweeping atmospheres create a world that feels intimate, yet massive. Next up, “v@por” brings glitch-hop energy and introspective rhythms, acting as the project’s anchor. “Microjoy”, featuring Allegra Miles and co-produced by canary yellow, glides into its own off-kilter groove — playful and raw. Closing it all out, “the way you want me” delivers a sense of emotional closure, ending on a hopeful and healing note.
Here’s what Player Dave had to say about the EP’s lead single:
“Elohim sent me a vocal that instantly lit a spark — I built the instrumental around it, and it became one of my favorite songs I’ve ever made. It set the tone for the whole project, carrying the same weight in an intimate listen as it does on a dancefloor.” – Player Dave
Player Dave continues to be a favorite of ours, pushing boundaries with every release.
