Released last Friday through Minnesota‘s Outer Realms label, rising Bass producer TVBOO (pronounced Taboo) brought the heat on his new Cult Classics EP. All four of the tracks bring significant firepower and each taps a different fellow up and comer as a feature.
We had the chance to chat with both TVBOO about his new EP and Minnesota on upcoming plans for himself as well as his Outer Realms imprint. Check out what the two had to say below and enjoy the bangin’ new EP!
HIHF: How did your musical journey begin? When did you know you wanted to make music?
TVBOO: I started playing drums at the age of 9 and was hooked to making music instantly. Played/toured in a bunch of different bands. Learned a lot and had a lot of fun. After multiple failed projects, I wanted to do it by myself and that’s about the time I found bass music and the rest is history!
H: Who are a few of your biggest inspirations?
T: Jantsen, Bassnectar, Minnesota, The Rock, Attila, South Park, The Trailer Park Boys, Satan (jk) A lot of comedy. I get inspired from some goofy things haha.
H: What do you want your fans to know about your new EP?
T: This Ep is sick af and if you don’t like it then I personally come to your house and beg for your approval. All jokes aside, this Ep means a lot to mean just because I got to make it with some of my favorite producers and they’re some of my most favorite tracks to have made. Also got to release it under one of my biggest inspiration (Minnesota)’s label so that’s super cool too.
H: Great segway to our next couple questions, these are for Minnesota. We recall you venturing out to Joshua Tree to work on music, can you elaborate on how such an environment alters your artistic journey?
Minnesota: Going out to Joshua True every year is almost necessary to really get in the creative zone. It’s the best way to get away from all of life’s distractions and focus on music.
H: What do you do with your (I’m sure limited) free time? Any hobbies?
M: I actually live a pretty mellow life outside of my touring schedule. Just hang with my wife and pets, and produce music of course.
H: Is there anything you want to share with your fans? Any upcoming plans you can tell us about?
M: Yeah we’ve got some major touring plans coming together for 2020. Also, I have a new EP I’m working on that will hopefully be done this year.
Thanks so much to Minnesota and TVBOO for sitting down with us. Go check out Cult Classics on Spotify and Apple Music here.
