Heard It Here First

On Friday, Ekali dropped the lead single from his upcoming debut album. “Runaway” features verses from Reo Cragun, who was most recently featured on Flume’s single “Friends”, and perfectly blurs the lines between hip-hop and electronic music. The single is deeply emotional yet metallic-sounding and shows a different side to Ekali than we’ve seen on many of his other tracks.

Cragun’s powerful vocals prove to be the perfect fit with Ekali’s blissful new track. The track showcases Ekali’s dynamic production abilities and includes elements of beautiful melodies, skittering hi-hats, crashing synths and more. The layers to the track seem to never end, making it easy to get lost in the atmosphere Ekali and Reo Cragun have crafted on “Runaway”.
