Precipitating onto streaming platforms everywhere is Valentino Khan‘s remix of “Rainforest,” a recent track by globally renowned house artist Tchami. Valentino Khan is no slouch himself, however, with popular remixes of RL Grime, Alison Wonderland, and Calvin Harris filling his resume. His most recent original release through Mad Decent, an EP titled House Party, features the likes of Diplo and Chris Lorenzo amongst other collaborative contributions, and his notoriety is growing as evidenced by the recent sold out appearance at Palladium Hollywood including surprising support from Snoop Dogg and Shaquille O’Neil.

The rendition of “Rainforest” takes a minimalist approach to the ambitiously subdued original track with many of Tchami‘s intergalactic sounds swapped for those of a more industrial variety. The additional atmosphere provided by Khan’s remix exposes the reverb-laden, tinny vocals to a simultaneously expansive and claustrophobic sound like a tiny ship in a bottle adrift in an ocean much larger than its means. This contradictory sentiment lingers throughout a burgeoning build and capsizes into a more traditional precipice with its jungle-house tones and evocatively aqueous grooves combining for an effective and powerful interpretation of the aptly titled “Rainforest.”

Keep an eye out for the perpetually meteoric growth of Valentino Khan. Which rendition of the tune do you like best?
