American electronic producers SLANDER (Derek Andersen and Scott Land) teamed up with LA-based DJ and trance producer Jason Ross for their new production “Better Than Heaven” featuring songwriter JT Roach. At the top of 2020, SLANDER had made some serious waves throughout the electronic dance music community playing this one to live audiences. Today, the track finally dropped on Gud Vibrations. JT Roach has notably appeared on NBC’s Songland, and served as a vocalist on SLANDER and Said The Sky‘s “Potions”. Meanwhile, Ophelia Records alumnus Jason Ross is best known for producing melodic bass, trance and progressive house music. He released his impressive debut album, 1000 Faces, at the top of 2020, which featured a slew of dance music favorites including vocalist Dia Frampton as well as fellow producers Dabin and Seven Lions. Additionally, the duo SLANDER have been known to draw melodic contrast among their tracks, composing growling, bass-driven originals as well as songs with cathartic, melodic leads. “Better Than Heaven” is an euphoric track with a peak that speaks to its title. The melodic anthem, with its powerful masculine vocals, represents both artists’ signature sounds. The densely melodic track is in alignment with SLANDER’s ‘heaven trap’ roots, a niche sub-genre consisting of thumping trap 808’s and uplifting leads, which the duo themselves coined. Both SLANDER and Jason Ross have reputations for crafting leads that are larger than life and the producers’ combined force on “Better Than Heaven” is enough to leave listeners in a surrounding state of bliss. Few may have expected that these artists would find themselves in each other’s company, but the track was definitely worth the wait. While we won’t be hearing this one live in the traditional festival environment anytime soon, this epic collaboration will still leave you feeling some type of way in the comfort of your own home.
