Okeechobee is almost sixty days away and we can’t wait to enter the portal once again! The central Florida Insomniac-run festival has seriously upped the amount of bass acts this year and they’re cranking it up to eleven. Featuring GRiZ, Excision, Goose, Turnstile, Earth Wind & Fire, and Baby Keem as headliners, this year’s festival is set to be one of its best editions yet.
Okee is well-known for its lineup diversity, which also features big names spanning genre lines like Lil Yachty, Dirty Heads, Big Boi, Sunsquabi, Channel Tres, Free Nationals,Phantoms,Chris Lorenzo,JPEGMAFIA,Sullivan King, and Hippo Campus.
Today, we’re going to go through the most anticipated bass acts that we know our readers are equally as excited for. Let’s get into it!
Who are you most excited to see at Okeechobee 2023? Let us know down below in the comments. The fest also released a super dope ‘music map’, outlining the different genres featured on this year’s lineup. Check that out below:
The brilliant minds of Jon Casey and Chee collide for the It Hz project. We have yet to be graced in person by this set just yet, but their DEF Global performance was exhilarating. Between the two superstar producers, they’ve got hundreds of weapons in their vast artillery of jaw-dropping tracks.
Zingara
This rising star producer has caught the eye of artists like GRiZ and LSDream and scored a TON of festival bookings in 2022. Her performances are equally chaotic and hypnotizing, bringing the perfect blend of sounds that us bassheads crave. Her Okeechobee debut is going to be one for the books, so don’t miss it!
Coki
When a dubstep legend like Coki is on a lineup, you simply do not skip that set. A transformative presence in the dubstep history books, Coki burst onto the scene as a Croyden Garage-loving youngin who quickly became one of the biggest names in the genre. He is well-known for founding the Digital Mistikz project alongside fellow heavyweight producer Mala. Iconic dubstep artists like Skrillex and Skream cite Coki as an inspiration and his tracks sound even better on a massive sound system. The following video is from ten years ago and has us absolutely GASSED for Coki at Okee.
Wilkinson
A staple of modern Drum and Bass, Wilkinson is a Hammersmith, London producer who has become a favorite of huge DnB labels like RAM and Hospital records. His Cognition album was one of our favorites of 2022 and he has been steady crushing the genre for over a decade. You can expect a couple of these bass DJs on this list to throw in some DnB into their Okee performances, but it will pale in comparison to what is sure to be proper DnB mayhem with this WIlkinson set.
Imanu
If Imanu isn’t on your radar, we don’t know what to tell you. It’s time to get hip. This Rotterdam wunderkind is crushing performances alongside the biggest names in the genre, like NOISIA and Zeds Dead. His 2022 Unfold album was ranked one of our top 25 albums of the year and was widely acclaimed all across the EDM world and beyond. Don’t miss his Okee set, it is going to be WILD!
Mersiv
Coming off of his nationwide tour, Mersiv has been cranking up the heat these past few years. Huge label releases off of Wakaan, Deadbeats, and his own MorFlo Records have provided fans an onslaught of bass-heavy weapons from the production maestro, including massive collabs with the likes of Smoakland, SuperAve, and Jantsen. Judging by his recent performances, his is set to be one of the craziest sets of the festival. Basshead or not, you’ve got to be at this set.
PEEKABOO
PEEKABOO has exploded into one of the biggest names in the dubstep world. In the short amount of time he’s been on the scene, he’s collaborated with the heaviest hitters in the genre, ranging from Zeds Dead to Caspa to Ganja White Night, and even Marshmello. He’s even got Rusko opening for him at Red Rocks this year. The Michigan fan-favorite has crushed multiple headlining tours these past few years, always leaving the crowd in absolute shambles. With this as his Okeechobee debut, you know he is going to have something special up his sleeve. His Mission Ballroom Denver 360 set looked unbelievable, check it out below and we will see you at his Okee set.
Daily Bread
Daily Bread is a multi-instrumentalist, big-brained producer who crafts groovy hip-hop-inspired electro-soul beats. He started producing at the young age of 14, armed with his jazz guitar, an MPC, and a massive record collection. His Bread and Breakfast tapes are one of the best mixtape series in the electronic world and he’s shared the stage with huge names like Pretty Lights and GRiZ. You don’t wanna miss Daily Bread throw down at Okee, we hope to see you at his set!
Ternion Sound
Arguably the hottest bass act of 2022, the Ternion Sound trio have got the midas touch. Anything they collide with instantly turns to gold. Favorites of TRUTH’s Deep, Dark, and Dangerous label, they are quickly becoming one of the most reputable names in the dubstep world. This set is going to be absolutely packed, as any in-the-know bass fans aren’t going to want to miss this show. It’s going to be an absolute throwdown, considering the momentous past year they had.
Tiedye Ky
Tiedye Ky also had one of our team’s favorite albums of 2022, Hound. The project, once again, put Ky’s vocals and songwriting on full display, just like the album’s 2020 predecessor Baby Blue and the Super Moon. Hopefully, we will get an acoustic set at some point over the weekend from this production wiz, but his DJ sets are absolutely filthy so we will obviously be happy with whatever from Tiedye Ky!
Honorable mentions include, but certainly are not limited to, TRUTH, IVY LAB, Curra, Chef Boyarbeatz, and Flozone. There are tons of talented bass producers we left off this list that are playing at the festival, so let us know who we missed down in the comments below!
