There aren’t many producers in the industry that bring the level of exuberance and flair quite like Wreckno. The LGBTQ+ icon has rapidly become a can’t-miss act in the EDM industry, delivering ground-stomping and booty-shaking live performances. One of the most sought-after vocalists, Wreckno, has the rapping skills to match their production level behind the decks. The “Medusa” breakout star has an extensive list of collaborators, including bass heavyweights REZZ, Liquid Stranger, Zeke Beats,Super Future, NotLö, and vocalist Ruku. Today, Wreckno has teamed up with the illustrious Canadian artist Kya Hansen, AKA bludnymph, on their new single “Steve Aoki.”
For those unfamiliar with Canada’s rising star bludnymph, she has been making waves in the music scene with her groundbreaking, genre-bending discography, fusing elements of dark rap with pop. She has gained widespread eminence with popular releases like “Lights Out” and, more recently, a collab with Grammy Award-winning artist/producer duo The Chainsmokers.
Wreckno and bludnymph decided to make their official Helix Records debut with their exhilarating new single, “Steve Aoki.” After listening to some of HR’s extensive list of releases from many prominent acts in the EDM community, including San Holo, Two Friends, and DnB luminary Netsky, this was a proper record label to showcase their vibrant new single.
Helix Records was founded in 2022 and strives to be the latest platform for some of the world’s top pioneering electronic dance music. With the addition of Wreckno, we all can’t wait to see what announcements are to come!
“Steve Aoki” takes off with Wreckno going hard and dropping bars. As Wreckno reminds you to shake what you got, the beat drops into Wreckno’s deep, rumbling bassline. You only have a moment to catch your breath before bludnymph hops on the mic and fires off her signature and otherworldly dark rap flow. Before coming to a close, the two artists join in the last verses to drive the track home.
Matching each other’s energies and styles, they created a party anthem that would be a vibe whether bumped in a club, house party, or a festival mainstage. Wreckno’s sound design is always worth mentioning, as this track has some heavily impressive deep grungey lows that is sure to give fans a severe case of bass face.
Check out what Wreckno and bludnymph had to say about the creation of “Steve Aoki” and working together:
“I wrote “Steve Aoki” as a little vocal idea when I was getting ready to perform at Okeechobee Music Festival this year. I wanted something sick to put over a track that would give the festie kids a personalized shoutout that they could geek out over. It was just a simple vocal edit at first, then once I got in the studio with AO Beats it took on a life of its own. Then, we got bludnypmh in the studio and she took it to a whole other level. It’s designed to be a raunchy trap club banger about not giving a single f*ck what anyone thinks!” – Wreckno
“I love Wreckno and I’m so honored to have been a part of this song! It’s so much fun and makes me wanna shake my cake, which in my opinion is always the best tell of a great song.” – bludnymph
Personally, I am in love with this track and am left craving more from these two phenomenal vocalists.
