REAPER is at the forefront of the American DnB world. Well known for his versatility within the subgenre, crafting both heavy and melodic compositions across some of the hottest labels in the dance music world, ranging from Monstercat, Ophelia, Deadbeats, and Welcome Records.
He first broke onto the scene with his viral remix of Subtronics and GRiZ’s “Griztronics,” which spread across festival stages like wildfire. It felt like everyone was playing his edit, with headlining EDM superstars dropping it like ILLENIUM, Zeds Dead, DJ Diesel, and Big Gigantic.
Today, the American DnB mainstay REAPER is unveiling his brand new sophomore album, titled Challenger. For the new LP, REAPER is returning to one of the most premiere labels for his sound, Bassrush Records.
The album starts off with “BALANCE,” a proper introduction to the madness that is set to ensue across the Challenger project. It’s bouncy and fun, and I could see it being embraced by non-ravers with its enticing vocal hook and workout-friendly vibe. All of REAPER’s music is great for the gym, but this one in particular I could see being a treadmill favorite.
Following that is “CALL MY NAME,” which steps things up another level. Flaunting his innate ability for crafting emotional DnB anthems, “CALL MY NAME” is just exactly that. It will turn your mood up on a gloomy Monday and get you ready for what the week has in store for you. This previously released single is as burley as it gets, certain to knock walls down and have crowds going OFF as REAPER traverses the country on his Challenger tour.
“COLD CASE” features a return to collaborating with esteemed dance music vocalist, Bella Renee, who you may recognize from her works alongside acts like RIOT, NEOTEK, Jacknife, and of course, REAPER. It’s got an energetic bassline that will have you constantly tapping your feet, throwing gun fingers, and wanting to bust out your worst case of bass face.
The rest of the album boasts impressive collaborations with the likes of Josh Rubin, Calivania, Bertie Scott and AMAGII and is a wild ride from start to finish. We are so hyped to hear what’s next for this Drum and Bass phenom!
REAPER is about to take off on his massive North American Challenger tour, stopping across the country at iconic venues like Red Rocks, DC’s Echostage, and Avalon Hollywood.
