Daggz is an experimental bass music producer based out of Rochester, NY, who recently released his EP, The Cosmos, through CloZee’s label Odyzey. Daggz’ strong interest in the occult and ancient mythology is the main inspiration behind his project: he fuses mythological themes with his productions by including clips of speakers talking about these themes in his compositions. We’ve seen a thorough goal to inspire listeners to reflect on these concepts and to appreciate the ineffable through his tracks.
Daggz’ EP, The Cosmos, is the second of a three-part series: The Darkness, The Cosmos, and The Light. The EP includes collaborations with fellow talented rising star producers Chmura, Comisar, Lowcation, and Ooga. CloZee’s Odyzey label always takes the listener on a voyage with its releases and seeks to release adventurous, forward-thinking music. That’s exactly what we have here with The Cosmos.
The title track and first song off the EP, “The Cosmos,” has an atmospheric, spacey intro, clean sound design and also incorporates world instruments and vocals. The song begins with a speaker talking about mythological and mysterious themes that are present throughout Daggz’ music. “Magicians,” the second track from the EP, also has a beautiful and atmospheric intro. It combines a clean minimal approach with intricate sound design and rhythms. “Pleadians” also has a strong sense of storyline and intention, and continues the same standard of top-tier production from Daggz. The last track,“Elementals,” closes the EP out in an extremely memorable way with heavier-hitting basses and drums, with forward-thinking experimental sound design reminiscent of Tipper or Jade Cicada.
