Multi-instrumentalist and rhythmic bass phenom, Equanimous, takes to his very own High Vibe Records with his newest album, Multidimensional. The title’s project is reflective of the components, as Equanimous presents a multi-genre blend of ambient harmonies, trance-inducing bass lines, and organic instrumentations that converge into a fluid sonic storyline. The Multidimensional LP wields a message of inspiration and hope embellished with Equanimous’ many-sided approach to musical expression.

After recently bringing his sweet sounds to the Honeycomb stage at Electric Forest, Equanimous has yet again piqued the interest of electronic fans everywhere with his vibrant DJ sets, dexterous multi-instrument talent, and impressive beatboxing skills.

The first portion of the Multidimensional album delicately ebbs and flows through a vocal-driven ambiance with free-flowing tracks including “Open Up My Heart Again” with Harmony Sunshine and “Love Drop” alongside HYPERLIGHT and KÄTÊRI. As he conjures up opposite ends of the sonic spectrum, Equanimous effectively lets the light in before thrusting listeners into a bass-fueled groove. These meditative yet intention-setting tunes act as an incendiary force that opens the door to more abstract audiation that follows.

“Hope” and “Moving On” featuring DTO delve into Equanimous’ instrumental tendencies, providing two stripped-down, pensive pieces that rely on keys and strings as their backbone. These tracks sandwich together with “Gold Ferrari” in between, a playful yet standout trap tune within the album.

The expanse of efforts at the core of the Multidimensional EP overflow with ingenuity. Primal and tribalesque soundscapes act as the overarching theme in both “Ayo” and “Supate” with Tahüm and Ruby Chase. Percussive bass lines, euphonious chants, and nature-ingrained downtempo elements generate a grounding yet introspective center to the LP that act as a harmonic dream to flow artists who indulge themselves in this project.

The latter end of Multidimensional converges all of the pre-established musical components into one through meditative melodies, intricate instrumentations, and celestial vocalizations, making for a cinematic close to an enlightening work of art. “Amber Glow” with Erothyme and Natalie Lain, “Introspection” with John Pattern and Ruby Chase, and “Divinity” with Bliss Looper and Harmony Sunshine all offer alternate viewpoints of Equanimous’ ultimate message of hope and healing through their calculated composition.

Combined with another instrumental effort in “Diamonds” and broken up with a spoken word number in “Acceptance”, this final grouping of hymn-like harmonies are captivating on their own, but as a unit, they possess a powerful force that can only be comprehended when explored as a full-length album that is Equanimous’ Multidimensional LP.
