The We Are Deadbeats compilation albums have been keeping us raging for years, with five past volumes of rising star talent showcased by Zeds Dead and their Deadbeats record label. The comps have hosted names like REZZ, Mersiv, Tape B, Zingara, Smoakland, YOOKiE and dozens more.
Deadbeats isn’t just well known as a record label and hub for underground dubstep talent, they’re also known to throw some of the best events for electronic music lovers in all of North America. Whether it is their Deadbeats takeovers of select cities like Chicago, Washington D.C. or Toronto, or their July 4th blowout celebration during Deadrocks weekend, which includes performances at Red Rocks amphitheater, Mission Ballroom, as well as their Jamboree during the day at the Denver Civic Center park, Deadbeats always knows how to make fans have an amazing time.
Today, Deadbeats is returning with volume six of their We Are Deadbeats showcase compilation. Let’s break down some of the rising stars that Deadbeats is spotlighting with their sixth official We Are Deadbeats:
OkayJake
OkayJake has gained recognition throughout the bass music world with his distinct and mind-melting beats. He was recently announced as the support for Ravenscoon’s Fall tour and just collaborated with HIHF favorite VCTRE.
We are so hyped to see him on Deadbeats and his contribution to this compilation “Shouldn’t Have Called” is the perfect concoction to introduce Deadbeats fans to his unique bass-powered, nature-invoking stylings.
Evalution
Blending his love for Rock music and heavy bass, Evalution has had SoundCloud in the palms of his hands with his viral remixes of artists ranging from Bob Marley to Swedish House Mafia to ELO. Zeds Dead even has been dropping the Florida favorite’s “In The Beginning” remix lately!
Check out our interview from 2022 and guest mix from 2021 from Evalution, he’s grown a lot as an artist since then and we are amped to see him on Deadbeats with “Clean.”
“Clean” really exemplifies Evalution’s sound. It’s got that flowing, amorphous, yet still heavy sound. Fans of GRiZ, LSDream, or Tape B will absolutely love Evalution’s newest work on Deadbeats.
Don Jamal
Don Jamal is yet another HIHF guest mix alumni. He’s gained attention from huge labels like Bassrush and Deep, Dark, and Dangerous and has even thrown down in the past for afters b2bs with Skrillex and Justin Jay. Levity even brought him out check this for their Deadrocks performance. His list of accolades is growing and growing and growing.
For his Deadbeats debut, Don Jamal crafted an absolutely gnarly banger, “Alright Thanks.” It’s got that mysterious low-end production power Jamal has become known for, filthy bass chops, and a whole lot of sass to go alongside the technicalities. We know for a fact this hybrid trap banger is going to be a festival favorite.
Lumasi & Ghost Lotus
Lumasi is blowing up BIG. After just announcing his first headline tour, now he’s colliding with the underground bass maestro Ghost Lotus for their first official Deadbeats collab.
After touring with Liquid Stranger and his Flo Rida “Low” edit going hugely viral, Lumasi has gained tons of attention in the scene. You can catch him at both Lost Lands and Wakaan Fest this year, two of the best festivals if you love bass music, and you won’t want to miss his set at either.
Ghost Lotus is a name you’ve got to have on your radar. His SoundCloud edits and flips are absolutely cracked. He also made his debut on Bassrush just weeks ago, that’s two huge label releases for this rapidly rising star!
Lumasi and Ghost Lotus absolutely smashed this one. “Back In It” carries that hefty, burley sound that fans have come to expect from Ghost Lotus and Lumasi, it’s haunting, deep, brooding, and, of course, HEAVY!
Be sure to show these two rising stars some love. You can also listen to Ghost Lotus’ HIHF guest mix here.
Skellytn
Skellytn is a dubstep and drum and bass maven who is exploding onto the scene with her dirty, diabolical beats. She’s already been on tours with some of the biggest names in the dubstep world, colossal artists like Subtronics and Boogie T. Skellytn is definitely one to watch over the years, as she is poised to be one of the festival world’s newest breakout stars!
Hershe & Seth David
Hershe is a world champion Beatboxer and producer whose talent knows no bounds. She is self-taught in both beatboxing and music production and has amassed over 25 million streams on Twitch.
Seth David is a rising star dubstep artist who collabed with crowd favorites like Mersiv and Smoakland. We love this pairing and “You Better Take This” is the perfect blend of the two’s styles and sounds. Creating an upbeat yet still deep and hard-hitting anthem, these two knocked it out of the park on their contribution to the new Deadbeats comp.
