Following the success of his masterwork EP, Lunar Fade, cutting-edge producer Jade Cicada surprises fans with the genre-expansive Lunar Fade (Remixes). The project features thrilling, unpredictable reworks from inventive electronic artists Chee, Schmoop, Machinedrum, and Kelpe.
Jade Cicada’s detail-oriented production and jazz theory background well describe his authentic technique and unique sound design. The Lunar Fade Remix EPwas diligently crafted as each participant sculpted creative interpretations of the Jade Cicada originals from their own perspectives.
Teasing fans with the first remix released in mid-May 2025, the tastemaker Machinedrum brought out a stimulating drum and bass spin on “Frame Shift.” With a myriad of experiences in the music industry since 1999, this skilled composer and producer sprinkles his signature flair onto everything he touches. This makes his addition to the Lunar Fade Remix EP extremely intentional and even more special.
Known for his intricate soundscapes and glitch-hop style, Schmoop hammered down on “Froggy Style,” raising the energy and reimagining the tune with his fresh liquifying rhythms. Schmoop is also the other half of Wonky Llama, a side project with Jade Cicada, so the two are no strangers to blending together their jaw-dropping sounds.
Producer Chee’s left-field experimental artistry is simply incomparable and just wildly inspirational. He’s been a favorite of our team’s since we first started HIHF. With a gritty flip of “Goober Time,” Chee shows off once again his ability to shock listeners with such extraordinary, unexpected bass music.
With an abstract rework of “Lunar Fade,” London-based Kelpe entrances us with hypnotizing frequencies and crisp drums that lead us to the thought-provoking drop. Kelpe brings his version to life brilliantly and effectively wraps up the transcendent Lunar Fade Remix EP.
As a pivotal and central creator in our beloved bass music community, Jade Cicada continues to open new doors and push boundaries within sound. As a huge fan of his, I find it wonderful to see him platform a wide range of artists and allow them to showcase their abilities.
The Lunar Fade Remix EP is a sonically evolved curation of talent that shows off bass music’s never-ending possibilities. Jade Cicada is gearing up to play some major festivals this year, including Electric Forest, Hulaween, and Of The Trees’ debut festival, Camp Alderwild. Don’t miss your chance to see this mind-blowing artist this year! He always spotlights incredible visual artists during his live shows, working with huge VJ names in past years, such as Steven Haman and Tenorless.
