New York is home to countless talented producers across the entire spectrum of EDM. Two artists rapidly changing the game and putting out some of the most innovative and mind-bending freeform bass music are tsimba and Mikayli. These two have captivated fans with their imaginative approach to sound design, seamlessly blending experimental bass music, hip-hop, downtempo, and organic bass.

I was first introduced to Mikayli under his original moniker Krxnik, with his Spicy Bois release, “Limit.” Since rebranding, Mikayli has dedicated countless hours honing in on his rich, sonorous sound that focuses on vibey, low-frequency bass layered with ethereal synths and subtle beats. Here’s what Mikayli had to say about collaborating with tsimba:

“Working on this track with Tsimba felt like a breath of fresh air. It’s been a while since we had seen each other and had a lot to catch up on. I think this track captures the essence of our energy during this session. We’re excited to finally put this track out there for everyone to hear.”Mikayli

tsimba always amazes me with his inventive, genre-defying mastery, whether it is his massive discography or invigorating live performances. His ingenuity and out-of-the-box virtuosity have given him widespread acclaim from hit tracks like “Heated,” “Pound Cake,” and “I Turn Into A Telescope.”

Here’s what tsimba had to say about working with Mikayli:

“This was one of the first songs I wrote when I first moved back to NYC. Mikayli inspired the hell out of me to push my sound and experiment in new directions and I feel like this collab is a prime example of that.” – tsimba

“Letting Go” draws you in with a hypnotic melody and looming low-end bassline. As it builds, the vocals gear you up for the drop, before tsimba and Mikayli introduce layers of high-octane breakbeats and enormous bass that catch you off guard.

The interlude lends way to a tasteful deviation as the tempo tones down briefly, leading into the second chorus featuring a complex contortion of glitchy vocals and chunky basses. “Letting Go” is a fantastic fusion of tsimba and Mikayli’s style and flair, highlighting their epic craftsmanship in sound design. I love the dynamic commingling of stylings between tsimba’s renowned, hard-punching basses and Mikayli’s resonant low-end beats.

“Letting Go” is everything I could’ve hoped for and more from tsimba and Mikayli. They knocked this one out of the park with a collab that is not only delicate and alluring but also exhilarating and capable of cutting up any dancefloor.
