The day has arrived and the wait is finally over! Three of the hottest names in electronic music, John Summit, Subtronics, and Tape B, have come together to drop a game-changing remix of Sage The Gemini’s iconic track, “Gas Pedal.” This release has been eagerly anticipated since its ID was teased during Miami Music Week 2024, where the trio unveiled the track at John Summit’s “Experts Only” event. That electrifying moment set the stage for what would become a new beginning in electronic music, blending the talents of these three artists in a way that transcends genre boundaries.
Subtronics is one of the biggest names in the dubstep world, if not the biggest. His North American tours have become well known as the best touring production in the bass space and his music, visuals and lasers back that claim up heavily.
John Summit exploded over the past few years and quickly became the most exciting and widespread-appealing name in the house scene. Collaborations with Kaskade, Sub Focus, Sofi Tukker, and Of The Trees fill his discography and his viral festival anthem “Where You Are” with Hayla also scored official remixes from behemoth dance acts like ZEDD and GRiZ. He’s no stranger to working outside genre lines, so we are ecstatic to see him collide with two of dubstep’s finest today.
Tape B is an artist we’ve been championing for years. Over the past couple of festival seasons, Tape B’s seen a meteoric rise, quickly becoming one of the dubstep world’s most exciting and persistent creators. His SoundCloud remixes of 2012-2016 Hip-Hop tracks hit the sweet spot for those bass music lovers who fell in love with the production and stylings of artists like Mac Miller, ASAP Rocky, ScHoolboy Q and more. He’s also released official remixes for two of 2023’s biggest bass tunes, Levity‘s “Flip It” and Peekaboo and LYNY‘s “Like That.”
The remix masterfully combines Sage The Gemini’s nostalgic vocals with cutting-edge sound design, showcasing the unique strengths of each artist: John Summit brings the high-energy/detail-oriented production style, Subtronics adds a powerful bass-heavy dimension to the track, and Tape B uses his unique approach merging old-school dubstep vibes with contemporary bass music. The result of this very lethal trio is a track that not only pays homage to a hip-hop classic but also unites dance music lovers across all genres.
“Gas Pedal” has already proven its wide appeal, as John Summit has been spinning it for huge crowds across the EDM scene, with overwhelming success. The track strikes a perfect balance, offering a familiar feel while introducing fresh elements from various genres, both house and dubstep, making it a standout release that resonates with a broad audience.
