EDM/Alternative artist, SOUNDR is driving awareness for mental health initiatives with her new track “Easy” and the impressive remix pack that includes reimaginings of the original from VNDETTA, afterxheaven, Celestial Void, Dvddy, and Scaretix. September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and SOUNDR has partnered with Peak Mindset Counseling to raise money with a merch drop, partner donations, and collaborative videos. A portion of the proceeds donated will go to raising funds for those who may not be able to afford therapy, counseling, and other necessary mental health resources.
“Easy” lyrically explores the challenges and triumphs of personal mental health. This song aims to strengthen those struggling to see the good in life. This campaign goes beyond just music, though- it will feature a series of interviews, coverage, and collaborative videos created by friends, family, and fellow artists that will offer intimate reflections on their own personal experiences with mental health, which helped inspire the themes of “Easy.” SOUNDR’s commitment to providing more accessible mental health care for those in need is inspiring, and it is wonderful to see an artist work so hard to bring such positivity to a world that oftentimes can feel bleak.
SOUNDR wanted the artists participating in the remix pack to not only reimagine “Easy” but also create a video sharing their own mental health journeys or how the song influenced their work. These videos will serve as powerful testimonials, furthering the dialogue on mental health across this project. All four producers on the remix pack did an incredible job of bringing their own sound and style to their version of “Easy.” Whether you’re in the mood for upbeat DnB, ethereal and melodic bass lines, or some brutal, boisterous dubstep, there’s something for everyone on the remix pack.
Check out what SOUNDR had to say about her track “Easy” and the mental health campaign she is passionately spearheading:
“Finding a way to help provide therapy/mental health care for others has been one of my goals, and main driving factors in my career, since I was 16 years old. I’ve been very vocal about my own experiences with mental health, both in my writing and in interacting with listeners, but with ‘Easy’, and the initiatives we’ve created around it, we’re widening the scope. This project is not just about me, or my experiences, or even one singular individual. It is all of us. Every walk of life, every phase, every demographic – all of us. We have all struggled. And we all deserve to see the light and hope and love that’s in the world around us… a reminder for the tough days. It has been one of the most humbling and beautiful experiences of my career to go from ‘I have an idea for this song…’ to having listeners upload their own moments of hope and love to be included in the video AND partnering with a counseling practice here in my own home community to provide therapy via merch sales & donations. It’s an honor to be able to curate this space… To write vulnerable music, to bring people together in these videos, to continue to have these tough conversations, and encourage the message of hope and healing. That there is a way through. That we are needed here. “You make it easy to keep my heart beating,” and I am so incredibly grateful. Thank you for being here.” – SOUNDR aka Katherine Thomas
