It seems like just yesterday I was at Three Sisters Park, the home of the Summer Camp Music Festival, where the first LSDREAM B2B CloZee set took place back in ’21. After experiencing the magic that unfolded on that stage, the two embarked on a studio trip to Joshua Tree the following year, which conceived a harmonious cosmos of exceptionality. Fast forward to 2024, and these two bass maestros have formed one of the most esteemed supergroups in the bass music industry, LSZEE.
The release of LSZEE’s singles “FRENCH DREAM” and “CHRYSALIS” sparked widespread curiosity amongst fans as the dream symbiosis began to take form. This was just a taste of their creative synergy, as their debut album comprises thirteen breathtaking tracks destined to take you on a transcendental exploration.
For fans of both artists, “LSZEE” represents the perfect confluence of CloZee’s world-bass aesthetic and LSDREAM’s cosmic soundscapes. Known for her “shamanic bass” sound, CloZee (Chloé Herry) is celebrated for weaving rich textures and multicultural influences into her music. Her sound is organic, drawing on influences from around the globe, with lush melodies and intricate rhythms that evoke nature and spirituality.
In contrast, LSDREAM (Sami Diament) brings a more futuristic and otherworldly vibe to the mix, fusing heavy bass, glitch, and hip-hop with vivid, intergalactic themes. His music often feels like an astral projection, with synths that warp and shimmer, punctuated by deeply resonant bass drops. With “LSZEE”, these two distinct sonic identities collide to create something that feels both earthly and cosmic.
Both CloZee and LSDREAM have established themselves as visionary artists within the electronic music scene, each known for pushing the boundaries of their respective dubstep sub-genres. CloZee, with her mesmerizing world bass sound and cinematic production, and LSDREAM, with his psychedelic basslines and spiritual undertones, share a deep appreciation for blending diverse influences into their music. Their partnership on LSZEE feels organic, born out of mutual respect and a shared creative vision.
The intro track, “EMPYRE, PT 1” draws you in with its ethereal soundscape, leading into “EMPYRE, PT 2” which turns up the bass and sets the mood for the forthcoming tracks with its charismatic presentation of each artist’s distinct energy.
Some of my personal favorites include “NIGHTHAWK” with its gripping heavy basses and enchanting vocals, “WOOK WHISTLE” with its experimental dubs and otherworldly synths, and “CLOUD10’s” funky, dance party vibes well-suited for a Daily Bread or Manic Focus show.
On feature duties, LSDREAM and CloZee have recruited some serious talent. On “Mother Earth,” an anthem that honors our home planet and the importance of respecting nature, Taylr Renee lends her angelic vocals to the track. LSDREAM has collaborated with Renee multiple times in the past, most notably on “Follow The Vibe” and “Psychedelic.”
For “Destiny,” LSZEE recruits the iconic bars of BORN I. This rapper/songwriter has been a mainstay in terms of dubstep vocalists and has worked with a wide array of artists like PEEKABOO, Ravenscoon, Dirt Monkey, Jessica Audiffred, Hairitage and more.
The new bass music power duo has been crushing their festival performances this year, events like Electric Forest, Bass Canyon, and North Coast. This coming weekend LSZEE is headlining two nights at Red Rocks, featuring support from The Funk Hunters, Skysia, K+Lab, and more.
The following week, they’ll be taking over the East Coast behemoth of a venue The Brooklyn Mirage. Their Mirage stop, set for 10/12, will also feature performances by HIHF favorites like Daily Bread, Tripp St, A Hundred Drums and Jordnmoody. You can snag tickets for the event here.
