Shakedown Productions Celebrates Ooga’s Largest Headline To Date

Returning for another night of audio/visual phenom at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, Colorado, Shakedown Productions brought to life Ooga’s largest-ever headline event featuring Humandala, Uhnomaly, and other incredible talents from across the United States. Leveling up their live stage design courtesy of Pyro.glyphics and bringing even more Funktion-One speakers with the inimitable expertise of Lost Horizon, the event set a new standard for boutique audience experiences.

Despite being an upstart production crew in North America’s bass capital, Shakedown Productions has shown Colorado audiences that their genuine dedication to curation, quality, and community sets them apart from the whirlwind surrounding Denver’s music scene.

Coming fresh off their sold-out immersive A/V event at the Fiske Planetarium with 3420 and Papa Bear, the Shakedown team was ready to bring the people together for another dance party. As a sonic explorer, passionate musician, and growing producer, Ooga couldn’t have been a better choice to headline their next Fox Theater event. Both artists and the audience certainly brought their dancing shoes!

We were stoked to see this unique lineup and intimate gathering of people who share our love and passion for the music. We broke down the inspiring night of skilled artists below and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them and the Shakedown Productions crew.

Snilk and Kaonashi

As the crowd filled the Fox Theatre, Snilk took us to whimsical states of serenity and astonishment with his intricate sound design and soul-touching beats. Based out of Indiana, this producer is gaining traction across state lines, crafting otherworldly experimental bass that tickles the innermost deepest corners of the brain. Joined by Denver-based visual creator Kaonashi projecting his polychromatic patterns and lights, the two crushed their set and warmed up the audience for the other sensational performances ahead.

Sqonk and Organism AV

Setting fire to the stage, Maryland-based producer Sqonk and Texas-based VJ Organism AV brought the heat with a high-energy set as the dancefloor began to ignite with wild moves and excited fans. Playing alongside legends in the making such as The Widdler, Keota, and Cool Customer in the past, Sqonk is known for his striking, wonky, unpredictable stylings. Hypnotizing us with abstract landscapes and vibrant designs, VJ Organism AV perfectly flowed his animations with the ‘Sqonky’ bass for an intense yet thoroughly enjoyable hour of live artistic immersion.

Hokeyboi and Kinetiphos

Next up, Hokeyboi of San Diego transported minds through perplexing wormholes with his deep, liquifying rhythms, twisted basslines, and mind-boggling style. Paired with the digital visual artistry, AI experimentation, and colorful palettes of Kinetiphos, this live team-up had every attendee with their jaw on the floor. The audience was thrilled to see Hokeyboi take the stage with Lost Horizon monitoring and pushing the sound levels to new heights.

Humandala and Diethylamide

Humandala threw down as direct support, contorting the speakers with elements of drum and bass accompanied by his glitched-out sound and emotive textures. Since his debut at Tipper and Friends in 2022, this musician has sculpted his signature craft and played eminent festivals including Infrasound, Submersion, Resonate, and Sound Haven. Treating the crowd to many of the brand new tracks from his shortly thereafter released album Happy Computer/Bad Operator, the Pennsylvania-based producer flexed the system with obvious expertise.

Meanwhile, Diethylamide melted the crowd with multi-dimensional dreamscapes of radiant kaleidoscope patterns and nature, incorporating locally 3D-mapped scenes and nature flythroughs. Hailing from Atlanta, Diethylamide made quick work of the 4K LED wall to stretch and break visual boundaries. Accompanied by the Pyro.glyphics dance team, this set certainly left us wanting more.

Ooga and Uhnomaly

“Ooga-ooga-ooga-chaka” blared over the Funktion-Ones as Ooga and Uhnomaly began their set to close out the night alongside interpretive dance from the Pyro.glypics team. Amongst various new tracks, we heard some sparkly VIPs from Ooga’s latest release, the OOGARAGE / SPORTS EP. The Los Angeles producer took the audience on a widespread, thrilling journey from one genre to the next, mixing in venomous IDs whilst Uhnomaly cast mesmerizing, gravity-distorting animations that had everyone getting funky.

Working with names such as GRiZ, Alix Perez, and Koan Sound, Uhnomaly has taken the visual sphere by storm, sculpting eye-opening graphics with vivid color and unthinkably complex variations. Perfectly accenting each track with dramatic visual themes and movements, the live synergy Ooga and Uhnomaly attained was truly something to behold.

Ooga continues to level up, bending genres and opening doors within left-field bass culture. We felt lucky to witness his biggest headline show yet and were honored to watch the Shakedown Productions team again work their magic. Who do you want to see headlining a Shakedown event next?
