New artists are popping up everywhere with the bass and EDM scene growing fast. Although AKTIVIII and SPLiT aren’t newcomers, they’ve spent over half a decade perfecting their craft and are now finally dropping fresh new music. Their latest collaboration, “Mike Jones – Still Tippin’ (SPLiT x AKTIVIII Flip)”, stands as a testament to how well bass music and rap blend.
AKTIVIII began his musical journey in Tennessee and is now based in Denver, Colorado. His latest solo track, “Strain 43,” is available on all platforms and is an absolute bop. Beyond music, he’s also a dedicated glassblower, working under the name Pirexglass since 2019. In his early career, he performed at local Chattanooga venues like The Dragon Roast and Exile. In recent years, he’s taken a step back from performing to focus on production, experimentation, and refining his style. You can still catch him occasionally at renegade sets—like the one at Badger Base Camp in 2024. Keep an eye out for this elusive artist of the shadows; rumors hint at appearances at Sound Haven and FreeForm Festival in 2025.

If you made it to the Badger Bass Camp renegade, it won’t be the last time you see SPLiT playing. Based in Denver, he’s been making serious moves over the past year. He’s played multiple shows at The Black Box, recently sharing the stage with underground bass heavyweights like Trip Drop and Tree Gaud. Up next, he’s set to perform at Cervantes, Sol Dance 2025, and FreeForm Festival.
SPLiT has been dropping bangers non-stop, like recent releases “Dead Motion,” “Soundboy” and his filthy flip of G Jones’ classic “Helix.” On top of those filthy releases, his collab with AKTIVIII also highlights SPLiT’s signature aggressive bass textures.

This hybrid trap banger came to life through a Lossless flip competition, where the winner got to play at the Lossless mansion party. Any guesses on who won? None other than two of Denver’s most underrated underground bass artists, SPLiT and AKTIVIII. They dominated the competition, beating out over twenty other submissions.
“Mike Jones – Still Tippin’ (SPLiT x AKTIVIII Flip)” is a prime example of how flips have become a staple in the EDM scene, taking a well-known track and infusing it with modern electronic elements. This gives listeners a mix of nostalgia and something fresh. Both artists’ styles shine through on this release: SPLiT’s heavy, distorted bass takes over after the intro, while AKTIVIII’s smooth, fluid sound design brings a different energy towards the end, balancing out the track.
Here’s what AKTIVIII had to say about his newest collab:
“With most of my past work being original tracks, this flip with SPLiT pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and experiment with merging genres. I’ve got a lot of new music coming in 2025, and I’m super excited for what’s next.” – AKTIVIII
