CHOZEN and Noetikas new collaborative project, Duality, presents two young artists blending sound through contrast and convergence, exploring how separate identities can move as one. The three-track Duality EP fuses Noetika’s percussive funk soundscape with CHOZEN’s concussive and quaking bass-bending. Together, creating a portal to a new sonic realm. The realm of the Duality EP.

Chase Rosenberg, better known as CHOZEN, has established himself as an artist to watch through his concussive production, high-energy releases, and his motivation to empower friends and fans alike to never fear the opportunity to choose their own destiny. Enlisted as a part of WAKAAN’s massive 10th anniversary HEARTBEAT compilation, CHOZEN joined the ranks of some of the heaviest hitters in WAKAAN history, such as Truth, Liquid Stranger, and TVBOO, to release his own original track “Turn Up The Drop”.  Currently, CHOZEN is traversing the states alongside one of the OG WAKAAN legends, Shlump, on his Chronicles of Shlump Tour.

The name Noetika, adopted by Kyle Szlenk, stems from the word “noetic,” referring to a universe that exists within the brain, an idea fully realized in the immersive worlds Noetika creates through his sound. Hailing from Chicago, Noetika’s style is born through a variety of influences, ranging from hip-hop and rap, to funk and dubstep. The sum of his inspirations brought to life the genre-blending immersive realm of sound that we know as Noetika. Noetika blazed his way into the new year with his brand new mix for Ravenscoon’s IN THE NEST GUEST MIX series as his first official release of the year. This month, you can catch Noetika alongside Ravenscoon and Artifakts in Atlanta, Georgia. Following their first b2b performance at last year’s WAKAAN Festival, CHOZEN and Noetika are performing their second b2b set this March at Red Rocks Amphitheater in support of Ravenscoon and Jantsen.

Here’s what CHOZEN had to say about the new collaborative project with Noetika:

Duality is a collaborative EP that explores the different sides of both of our projects. Each track highlights our individual identities while meeting in the middle creatively. Working with Noetika was a true pleasure, and releasing this body of work on WAKAAN makes it even more special. We have a lot more in the works and are so excited to finally share this EP with the world!” – CHOZEN

“Costco Bois” introduces us to the Duality EP’s sonic odyssey, hurling us into an instrumental fusion of dubstep and funk. The opening melody is led by the echo of triumphant trumpets, beckoning us into the evolving crescendo. Once the track reaches its optimal climax, it reveals the dense layers of blended sound bouncing between CHOZEN and Noetika’s production styles. “Costco Bois” pairs aggressive dubstep low-end with intricate sound design, driving rhythms, and high-energy arrangement, complementing Chozen’s precision with Noetika’s bass-centric universe for a track that hits hard while inviting deep listening.

The second track of the Duality EP enlists DEF3’s razor-edged lyricism to further diversify Duality’s sonic arsenal. DEF3’s vocals lead the charge of “Tooth, Nail & Claw,” guiding us effortlessly towards the genre fusion as the piece switches from a hip-hop-inspired soundscape to a dubstep chimera. As we arrive at the percussive breakdown, a volcano of synths, mixed with perfectly timed scratches and a diverse arrangement of funky bass erupts. “Tooth, Nail & Claw”  combines DEF3’s lyrics with the surgically placed ransack of thick, boisterous production.

The final piece of Duality, “Run It Up,” brings us to the conclusion of the three-track project. “Run It Up” utilizes another strong lyrical lead to prepare listeners for another genre-blended intergalactic journey. As we approach the climax, prepare to fall victim to a minefield of frog synths. After surviving the explosive minefield, listeners are left to the mercy of Noetika and CHOZEN’s switch into a deep and choppy, atonal, riddim-style breakdown.

With Noetika and CHOZEN meeting at the intersection of funky groove and pure dubstep power, Duality stands as a seamless collaboration—two distinct young voices moving in sync, proving that contrast isn’t division, but momentum.

We had the chance to host CHOZEN for a HIHF guest mix last year. Check it out here. It absolutely RIPS!
