In a collision course from heaven, decorated trailblazer MK has linked up with multi-national hip-hop artist Jackson Wang for a remix of the latter’s single “100 Ways.”
While perhaps not a household name to contemporary listeners, MK has been holding the fort in house music for decades now. Marc Kinchen has maintained his moniker and associated success since 1989 – even spinning records for pop icons like Will Smith and Pitbull.
Although earlier in his career by a considerable margin, Wang is no stranger to success either. Getting his start with K-pop boy band Got7, the Hong Kong native has since cultivated an impressive solo career catching the eye of Asian and American arts collective 88rising.
With 2019 release MIRRORS achieving acclaim commercially and critically – additionally smashing Billboard records for Chinese artists in its #32 debut – Wang is back with the fervent “100 Ways.”
The original mix’s production exudes impressive awareness of electronic ideals as it vacillates between rippling synth arpeggios and tinny, industrial bass hooks.
MK’s energetic contributions to the tune push the tempo while expanding the instrumental palette – including the addition of a timeless Roland synth on the hook. The result is an iconic, club-friendly rendition of an already impressively modern track.
