Trap-a-holics beware, Boombox Cartel is back with his highly-anticipated, seven-track Cartell II EP.

Boombox Cartel has certified his superlative talent through his unique and natural sound of blending dance music, hip-hop, and trap music altogether. With a touch of eclectic and multicultural influences, his natural-sounding curations are soulful, electric, and sparked with a variety of bass elements and euphoric trap harmonies that add up to his thorough, high-quality sound. The genre-defying producer and DJ has pushed releases off of epic labels such as Mad Decent, Dim Mak, and Spinnin’ Records, and has worked with a variety of other talented big-name dance artists such as NGHTMRE, Dillon Francis, and Flosstradamus.

Deserving his top spot in the EDM world, he has unleashed yet another legendary EP, Cartel II, which happens to be the second addition to his Cartel series.

We have tasted a few tunes off of this bangin’ EP since the release of the first single, “Máquina”, which guided us through 2020 with high hopes and tons of energy. This fan-favorite is an exclusive trap anthem fueled by intricate drum patterns paired with ethereal, rickety, and hectic synths. “Shadow”, with Moody Good featuring Calivania, is another vocal-lead trap banger, also released in 2020, that was heavily played in livestreams across the virtual realm throughout quarantine.

The EP begins with a beautiful and uplifting opening track, “MONTA”. With soothing piano, future wave synths, and silky bass lines, this tune sets the mood for the entire collection of tracks and leaves us floating in space.

“Reaper”,  with esteemed rapper JID, and “Fatal Attraction” with Reese LAFLARE, two features charged from hip-hop aesthetics melded with Boombox’s signature stylings. With “Reaper” being one of the heaviest and grittiest on the EP, this draws in the headbangers and hip-hop fans where “Fatal Attraction” reserves more of the experimental side of trap and bass music.

The two remaining tracks, “Rock Dem” and “Veneno” are both powerful, hypnotic, and off the rails. These heavy hitters push the boundaries of modern-day electronic music with their next-level production. Here’s what the man himself had to say about his new project:

“‘Cartel II’ is the continuation of ‘Cartel’, which was my debut EP released in April 2017. It’s been a 3 year journey of creating the follow up story and sound, and finding the right artists to collaborate with. We spent months perfecting the artwork and visual pieces to make sure it matched the energy of the EP. It’s been a long time coming, but I can honestly say that it’s been worth the wait and I’m really proud of these songs. I have to thank all of the fans for their support on the road and online, because their reaction to the songs made me want to keep pushing and make them the absolute best they can be. They describe a certain emotion for me that’s difficult to put into words, but I hope you can feel it when listening and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.” – Boombox Cartel
