Denver-based producer and saxophone player extraordinaire SoDown just released his full-length album, dubbed Alive. His new album contains ten unique tracks that each take the listener for a ride. Blending his saxophone and bass music production, it is clear why he calls his work “bass music with soul.”

SoDown collaborated with several talented producers on this project, such as KILL PARIS with their track “Our Time”, a bouncy midtempo tune that includes SoDown’s unique and soul and funk-fueled sound. Not to mention, his collaboration with SOUNDR and their track “Moment”, a vibey future bass tune that will definitely get your hypnotized with bliss. Manic Focus and Bailey Flores make an appearance on the track “Cliffs,” another vibrant tune that does not shy away from using SoDown’s signature saxophone to create a wonderous, exhilerating soundscape.

SoDown featured Will Robinson to rap on his track “Angels and Demons.” Personally, I think the tracks that stand out the most are the two alongside producer Bass Physics. Their tracks “Tension” and “Pull The Trigger” are the two most heavy-hitting tunes on the entire album and ones I’ll be adding to my ‘hefty heaters’ playlist.

Here is what SoDown had to say about his newest work: Alive is a reflection of the need for gratitude of the current moment, enjoyment of what is, and the realization of the actions and steps needed to move through troubling times.”

Overall, the album is a fun and exciting listen, through and through. It is always great finding other artists who can masterfully blend the saxophone with boisterous bass music and it is even more amazing when it is done this brilliantly. Alive cements SoDown as an artist to keep a constant eye on in the future.
