Esseks returns with the second installment “Justice Served” leading up to his newest project. This single is from his forthcoming EP “The Uncertain Future“, due to be released later this Spring. A supporter of HIHF, he recently stopped by for a massive playlist takeover, filled with top-tier tune selections by the man himself.
Esseks has many tour dates approaching, including a massive set at Red Rocks in Colorado at the Global Dub Festival, where he will be going back to back with Buku. Other names on that bill include Peekaboo, Dirt Monkey, ATLiens, and more. You can find tickets here, and all of his upcoming dates here. Don’t sleep on the opportunity to hear these beats live!
He created the album artwork himself as part of a series that accompanies the EP. The art reflects a tarot card he made from a watercolor painting he made, seen below:
Esseks shared some insight into the thought process and emotion behind this massive project:
“These songs were written during a time in my life where a lot was changing and it was causing me a lot of stress and anxiety. I chose to make my own kind of tarot cards for the art because to me they represent the anxious need to try and predict or control the future.” -Esseks
A darker tune than the other preceding title track “The Uncertain Future”, this track “Justice Served” is a slow saunter that is packed with emotion. The foreboding melody jingles along with a murky feel, as though the listener is being guided down a dimly lit path by the hooded figure reflected in the art. Synths veiled in mystery echo throughout, accentuating the dark tones of this tune. These vibes leave listeners unsure of that path ahead, though you can count on more incredible artwork and, of course, impeccably crafted bass music around the corner.
