Ethan “Smokestax” Uellendahl, the talented up-and-comer out of New York, has blessed us with a new single titled “Desination” through The Gradient Perspective. Hot on the heels of the lo-fi, halftime, and downtempo album Feel The Vibe he put out through his rsrch chmcls project, “Destination” is a wholly DnB tune, and we’re here for it.

Smokestax starts the track off with some chopped synth, guitar, and vocal samples, and quickly brings in a signature DnB drum break. Tasteful effects layered throughout the intro create a bright, meditative ambiance. The chorus smacks us with some low, distorted bass sounds that balance nicely with a floaty guitar melody.

Both industrial and ethereal at once, the interplay of heavy basses with ambient melodies and effects brings a totally unique vibe to this track. Switch-ups in the basses and layered elements keep the flow moving throughout the whole track.

Another brilliant and balanced work is what we’ve come to expect from this talented up-and-coming producer. If, like many of us at HIHF, you find yourself at Yonderville this summer from June 30th to July 4th, make sure to catch him live!
