We love covering undiscovered talent here at Heard It Here First and this post is dedicated to someone who you might not know about but definitely will be seeing more of in the coming years. His name is Goldi and his latest release, “Rose Tinted,” is a beautiful track that is ushering in his new era as an artist.
Goldi, real name Pierce Colbert, is a Chicago-based producer who is setting up for a break-out year. His musical journey began as a part of the Chicago Children’s Choir where he was able to sing with the likes of Chance the Rapper and Yo-Yo Ma. In 2016, he decided to launch into a music career of his own and has since seen great traction in only a few years. Artists like NGHTMRE and Ookay, have supported his tracks and with his latest single, he is ready to enter this new era as a producer.
When asked for his thoughts on the next era for the Goldi project, Pierce shared the following quote that helps set the context for his latest single release out today:
This next phase of the Goldi project is about trying to show the way I view and think about music. I’m doing pop production and songwriting, rap production, and making dance music at the same time, and I like to let each of the styles of music I make influence the others. I think the best art draws lessons and inspiration from multiple genres and styles.
“Rose Tinted” is a perfect example of the blend of genres and styles that Pierce alludes to in the above quote. At its core, it is a gorgeous track that gives early Flume and Odesza vibes but it extends its horizons beyond electronic music as its classically known. Throughout the track, from the opening quote discussing flying too close to the sun, to energetic builds and bridge section, all through the climax of the song, the listener is treated to a creative journey that provides plenty to chew on with each additional listen. Goldi is one of our producers to watch so check out his latest “Rose Tinted” below and let us know what you think in the comments!
